This is the kind of thing that happens with me and my GF's all the time. She isn't to know how special it is to you.
husband - it has got to the time where you need to spell out that you want to be with her and enjoy time together. She is not a mind reader. You might find that if you explain what a special occasion you were trying to make it for her she will put the night out with the girls on ice for a bit longer.

I agree with Saffie. You keep everything hidden from your wife and then are hurt when she doesn't know about it. Surprises can be nice, or they can be miserable failures.
