I sometimes find that same problem with myself. Over these last few months I have made such progress in realizing it is all about BALANCE. I used to never be able to do anything unless it was done perfectly or to the 'nth' degree. Whether it was work, hosting dinner parties, etc - it is fine for all us perfectionists out there who are capable of handling high levels of stress - but I realize now what a toll that takes on our partners - having to live up to that ideal.
