That stuff you just described about the planets is followed in Vedic Astrology.
They don't use all the planets, either (they only go so far as using Saturn, I think), in doing their 'forcasting.' AND, it isn't just a matter of reading the sign prior... for a description of yourself... at least in western astrology... eastern astrology is much different... but I've had a few vedic readings, and they are just so cool... kind of like reading your ennanegram.
