Determine a budget. Have one financial transaction/month that is a predetermined transfer of a set amount of money.

OT,
This is actually an easy one to answer, for once. Plain old curiousity. The depo is based on credit rating. I got the lowest possible depo and I knew she'd want to know because it was based on our combined credit. We're separating bank accounts in about two weeks.

I've already started using a separate credit card for purchases for myself.

I don't know about the rest of you ladies but I do NOT care about a little spare tire. If you have love in your eyes, that's all that matters.

Still using the joint card for groceries, school supplies and whatnot (Renn Fest Monday, new bed for me) until I officially move out -- on or about Sept 8.

After that, W will remove me from that card.

I'll open a new banking account late next week or early the following week with a percentage of our savings. Once we pay the joint bills, we'll split whatever's left. Haven't done the math yet, but we'll figure it out.

My depo and first month rent will come out of that split as well.

What happens next, once you've moved in? Have you decided on access arrangements for the kids? Will W be there? Will you see anything of her?

Yes, it actually is that amicable. Of course, maybe she's just hiding her true feelings like she did all this spring, but it doesn't seem that way. Who knows. If so, that's her problem, not mine. I would prefer to NOT be able to take a shower in peace, sigh.

Regarding the kids, we have joint custody. So, they'll be a week with me and a week with her (Sunday to Sunday). Plus, there are days she needs to work late and vice versa, we'll make sure to sort that out so the kids are covered after school regardless of who's week it is. We've also discussed her changing her work schedule on my week so that she would go in early and pick the girls up from school, spend a little time with them, then bring them to my apartment. I had brought up the issue that they will be cooped up in the apartment with me, because I'll have to work and didn't think it fair to them. She made that suggestion so that the girls can play with their friends in the neighborhood after school for at least every other week. On the weeks that she has them at night, I'll pick them up after school and then she'll get them from my place. So, even after I move out, I'll see her 10 or so times over the course of two weeks.

Going to be interesting. DBing, full steam ahead.
