Hang in there guy. You seem to need more time on your journey. That is okay, take all the time you need. But check every now and then to see if there is progress.

I noticed the Chāteau d'If reference. The Count of Monte Cristo offers so much for our journey. Edmond Dantes grows from a boy into a man in that story. Everything he endures is what we must endure to become the men we were meant to be. Plug in that movie again - and watch the boy grow into a man. Look at it on a deeper level - treat the imagery as the metaphors they are.

Is he in prison or is the prison within him? Is the old priest really there or does he represent Dantes inner turmoil and growth? Does Dantes remain in prison or does he risk the unknown by going over the cliff? Is the treasure money or the wisdom he acquired? Is revenge his motive or a means to a just end to prove himself a man?

Strength and Honor.

Jeff223,

The funny thing is Kim thought it was a story of revenge. To me, it was a story of a young man who had the woman he loved, a promising career and promising future. He was very much like me. In an instant, everything he has is ripped from him. Again, this was very much like me.

He goes through turmoil struggling how God could allow this; he seriously doubts God. Again, that is me.

He finds the priest to guide him. God sent me an angelic woman named Teresa to guide me.

I have found my treasure as he did; mine is finding myself again, renewing my faith, meeting new friends and having my own business.

The revenge part is pretty easy; I am going to live each day to the fullest, love the people around me with everything within me and glorify God with everything I do.

On to your questions:

>>Is he in prison or is the prison within him?

I believe it is both.

>>Is the old priest really there or does he represent Dantes inner turmoil and growth?

Again, I believe it is both.

>>Does Dantes remain in prison or does he risk the unknown by going over the cliff?

I think he had a choice to change his life by going over the cliff. You and I were thrown off the cliff.

>>Is the treasure money or the wisdom he acquired?

Again, I believe it is both.

>>Is revenge his motive or a means to a just end to prove himself a man?

I think it is really revenge to inflict pain on this who wronged him so terribly.

BTW, I was married for 12 years as well.....
