yup.he's a verbal/auditory person. Even in the 5 love languages. He won't talk to me in person, so the best way we have is for me to try as many different ways of wording things in emails when he is willing to email.

Well, Sox, I think you need to keep on working on being happy regardless of what he does or doesn't do. I know your situation is touchy and on the fence so to speak, but right now it looks like you are focusing on his wants and needs from all of this. What happened to your wants and needs that are independent of his?

Other than that, the baseball bat sounds good!
