CM. it definitely applies to me as well. I'm one of those people who have to know everything. that's part of my obsessiveness on the computer, since I'll get on here reading everything. I've probably researched about the fish tank for 20 hours, and probably the same for the monavie. I'm sure it's probably more!
I'm very proud of myself though today. We got some cleaning done this morning and then we played a made up bible game and the kids enjoyed it. I need to set a time every morning to be involved with them and also get them involved spiritually. I really feel like my s8 is starting to fall away in some way. Since he had been in school, and my other son getting older an harder to deal with, I haven't been able to spend as much time with him. haven't prayed everynight like we used to. I used to really like him before and now sometimes I'm so annoyed by his attitudes and it's almost like he's a different boy. So I really need to buckle down and put God as a focus in his life like we used to. This is where it is hard for me because since I'm the only one who has Godly beliefs, it's all on me. It would be so nice if H would say prayers at night with him or something. I guess I'm just gonna have to try to get s3 to bed earlier so I can have time for s8.

You could be me!!!!
I think my TV + PC over-indulgance took me away from my wife the ultimate detriment of our marriage

I ALSO did this when our kitty got sick last year - I went through the entire internet looking for a cure!!!

In that case, this is for you (even though I posted it on galings thread as well )
Eagles
Isaiah 40:28-31
The eagle is a symbol used many times in Scripture, in fact, it is mentioned 38 times throughout the Bible. We can learn some important lessons from this majestic creation of God. Eagles have a wing span of 2 meters and are around 90 cm. tall. The eagle mates for life and use the same nest for life. This nest is built in a safe place, often on the ledge of a sharp cliff. It is built to last and the largest nest reported is 9,5 feet wide and 20 feet deep.
When the babies are born, both parents assume responsibility for their care. They are gentle parents, sitting on the eggs for one month. The parents bring food up to the nest and feed them small pieces of meat. Within 45 days they can weigh nearly 40 times their birth weight. At three months they get special feathers for flying and a new learning experience begins. The mother eagle flies into the nest and begins to thrash around causing a great commotion.
Eventually one of the babies will fall out of the nest and begin heading for the earth below. Never having used his wings before, he's not really sure what to do, but does do lots of flapping while heading straight down! Just before the baby hits the ground, the mother eagle flies underneath in order to 'catch' the baby on her powerful wings and she flies him safely back to the nest. This continues on day after day until all the babies learn to fly.
There are two verses in scripture that actually mention this routine of the eagle. In Deuteronomy 32:10,11 (NIV) Moses reminds the children of Israel how God cared for them and guarded them just "like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions." Again in Exodus 19:4 God says that "He will carry the children of Israel on eagles' wings".
We can get very comfortable in our 'nest'. Perhaps that could be our way of doing things, our way of thinking, our opinions, our way of living life.
Then when God comes and 'stirs up our nest' we get upset. We don't always identify this as a growing experience.
Sometimes if we were really honest, we really don't want to grow. We get very complacent and satisfied with where we are and any interruptions are viewed as negative. But God wants us to fly - to become all that He intends us to become. He never stirs up our nest without good reason!
The eagle can see a rabbit two miles away. It can soar up to two miles above the ground and can fly at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. They have a separate eyelid which slides across the eye sideways in order to keep the eye clean and free from dust as they fly. Their bones are hollow and therefore light of frame. Their frame has cross ribs like steel bars in sky scrapers. The eagle has 7000 feathers. The back feathers are as long as the head feathers. Their beak is black until age of 3 years and then turns golden.
When eagles are about 30 years old they go through a renewal process. They find a secret place high in the mountains and begin to claw at their face and tear out the feathers that have been damaged over the years. As a result, it bleeds badly. But this is necessary for the eagle in order to renew its strength. If it did not do this it would not be able to live to its normal 60 years of age.
Psalms 103:5 (NIV) says "who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles."
A time of renewal is necessary for every child of God. A time when we get rid of what is weighing us down, holding us back, aging us spiritually. A time to give up the sinful habits, to give in to the Holy Spirit in whatever way He is convicting us. We need to do this even to the point of renewal with pain! Some things we hold on to so tightly that to let go, actually causes us pain. But in order to have the long, powerful, useful spiritual life that God plans for us, we need to do that. It will renew our spiritual youthfulness.
When the eagle is free to soar in God's creation, they are the cleanest of birds. They were created to be free and to soar to great heights. They were not meant to remain close to the earth in the lowlands. They were created to soar. When eagles are held in captivity, they become one of the dirtiest birds.
God has created us to remain pure and holy and conformed to his image. Don't allow the freedom we are to experience in Him, to be compromised by spending too much time in worldly thinking, activities, and mindsets.
Remain clean!
Eagles do not fly like other birds, they don't flap their wings but rather soar. Flapping their wings would use incredible amounts of their own strength and endurance and they would require so much more food as fuel if they didn't soar. Instead they sit on a high ledge and wait for the right wind currents to come. When the time is right, they take off and soar upward. Effortlessly, because they have waited for the right time. There is a special 'up going' wind, that they ride as it circles higher and higher toward the sky.
What a lesson for God's children to learn. How often do we waste strength by jumping out too soon and 'flapping our wings', instead of waiting for God's timing. Waiting is not a popular concept in these days of instant everything! But when we wait on the Lord - wait for His timing - wait for His answers - wait for His direction, then we can soar to new heights and fly to new places.
"Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles: they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." (NIV)
ST - so glad to hear you don't see it as a "screw up" so much. I know what you mean, I'm an obsessive researcher too. I like the time limit idea, if that works for you.
Also very glad for you that your H did talk to you about his worry instead of letting it get out of proportion in his head. That is great!! Mine will drop these totally off the wall hints about things like that, but I'd be really happy if he was more direct about it someday.
Glad it's been a calmer week for you, too. Sounds like a great time with the kids, and a good plan for reconnecting with S8.
Just a thought for you on the religious thing with your kids - I know it's hard for you since your H isn't religious. I was thinking though maybe you can look at it in a little different way, as something special that you share with the kids. It might help make it easier to see it as "bonding" with the kids, rather than a responsibility or task that H isn't helping you with (seems like maybe there's a little resentment there?). I dunno, just a thought. My dad's not religious but stepmom is, and that seemed to really work for her to make church, prayer, etc. something special just between her and my sis.

thanks Nikki and CM. don't have a lot of time, so I'll reply more later.
CM...I'll try to read that post soon, and I'll tell you what I think. ya, we probably are the same!
Nikki, that is a very good idea about the bonding thing. I definitely should think of it more like that. Hope your having a better end of weekend.
My mom and neice were visiting picking up MV and staying for my s8 b-day, now he's s9! yeah!
talk to you all soon!

Nikki. ya, we did have some fun. my niece who is 8 is already big enough to wear one of my bikinis. of course they have ties so the bows were a little tighter than what it is on me. My H had to joke and say, well you know they'll fit her on top. hahaha I say. (fyi- my neice hasn't started any "growth" yet.) ya, thanks hubby.
I pretty much got done with the landscaping in the front. I'll have to post the pics, I think it will look really cool when it's finished. I've already spent who knows how much... had to buy 10 more bags of river rock after the first 9, and I still need 3-4 more. I even carried all 10 bags too! So, the landscaping almost done, got a lot of painting in the house done. now I just need to clean up all the mess!
Plans for this week is probably cleaning inside before family comes this weekend. Then next monday I'll be heading to Wichita again because someone wants me to do a MV meeting at their house! Guess I did a good enough job on my first meeting I did last month.
Neighbor came over. She's in such bad shape...all these physical problems going on and surgeries planned and doctor visits and drugs. I mention the monavie, and she seems eager, but doesn't have the money right now. So I hope that when her H gets a job, she will try it. I know it will help her. I really think she has an autoimune disorder. She's had problems all her life she said, and now her doc thinks she's got something called PCOS that's causing her to grow enough hair on her chin that she has to shave now and gain weight. ug. people shouldn't have to go thru things like that. With everything that her and her H have been going thru (half what they do to themselves) it's a shock that they are still together. They've broken up who knows how many times, but for now, they are together. I had given her the DR book, but don't think she ever read it. She's one of those, has to learn the hard way, people like Nikki's dad or my sis.
okay, went off a little there. Hope everyone had a good monday.

So excited! just found out my neighbors (WAW) who used to live across from us (in their 50s probably) are getting back together! I even gave them the DR book too. Although the H was suppose to read it, but their daughter gave it to her mom first I guess. But still, that book along with others I believe have brought them back together. H has not moved in yet, but I think they are going to make it work.
VERY HAPPY praise Jesus!!!!
She also bought a bottle from me too! She's a nurse and can't walk right now due to some kind of arthritis in her feet. She's on 3 meds and the doctor has talked about surgery. She even spent $400 on some insoles! I definitely can't wait to hear how she does. ' okay, that was all. been sooooo busy, doing landscaping and more painting inside. I probably stink really bad! YIKES!
hope everyone doing good!
