P.S. Tone of call on my end was very bright and cheerful. She sounded the same, but that means virtually nothing.

As an aside, one of my biggest milestones: On our anniversary (5/20), my S got a splinter in his finger (there is a much longer story about that weekend, but I'll leave that for later), so we met the next morning to take him to the doctor together ( I wasn't sure I had gotten it all out). Turns out he's fine, I've got to head to work, she's taking him back to MIL's. Hadn't really gotten the hang of DB'ing yet, but was very much trying to think on my feet. She said a lot of nice things, including pointing out that I had successfully gotten the splinter out on my own (an angle I myself had not even considered). Anyway, I was just about to break down over the whole mess, even had tears in my eyes (but not cheeks, yet) and she asked me if I was okay.

Somehow, I managed to meet her eyes and say in a clear voice "Yeah, I'm fine". We've come a long way since then, but I think that was one of the first times I really surprised her (hiding feelings and acting like everything is just peachy when it isn't has always been her game, not mine).

No idea why I just shared that, but thanks for reading it if you did. If not, here's another lame joke:

To atoms are talking, and one says to the other "You know, I think I've lost an electron."
The other says "Are you sure?"
The first replies "Yeah, I'm Positive."
