God is True to His Word!!

(Numbers 23:19) - "God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

His Word is forever settled and sure. God CANNOT lie. What He say He will do, He will do. God is faithful and true to His Word. Today we have a hard time grasping this concept of being faithful and true to our word. We have several documents all notarized and sealed and we have several lawyers review these papers to write lawsuits to determine what the word is. But God's Word is sure and settled. When He swears, He swears by HIMSELF.

Hebrews 6:13, "For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swear by himself."
God Upholds His Promises By Himself. Hebrews 6:13-20

Before Abram's name was changed to Abraham, God made a covenant with him that Abraham would be the father of many children. Abram was instructed to take several animals and lay them out on the ground and God passed through them. This was a figure of God stating this: may this happen to Me if I break My oath. God's commitment to His Word was understood by Abram. God's honor was at stake.

Hebrews 6:17-20, "Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. "

God proves His Word by His oath. God desires to show us His desires. God's mind is fixed and unalterable. His mind does not change. God does not change, unlike people, people change all the time. How do we understand something that does not change? How can we understand God who is constant and never changes. As believers we understand this through faith, and faith leads us to our eternal hope. This hope is enduring.

Hope in Christ is a sure anchor to our souls. It holds us steady in the storms of life. When a ship drops anchor in a storm its position does not change. As believers our position in Christ is sure because it is dependent only upon the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Hard times cause us to question our faith and hope. We may cry just as David did in Psalm 13, "How long O Lord will you forget me?" The Hebrew Writer is appealing to the facts so that we may be comforted.

Be encouraged and know that God has you in mind. Yes, you. He has not forgotten you. God's honor is at stake. Jesus placed His life on the line for you. God does not change. God expects us to be faithful. He expects us to trust Him even when things are going the opposite direction.

Look to His Word for it never changes. Lord we confess that we are weak and do not understand what You desire. Our lips and hearts may murmur against You, but we ask You this day for forgiveness. Forgive us and grant us faith to hold to Your anchor – Your sure Word. Guide us today so that we may be faithful to You and trust You, knowing that You never fail. Knowing that you've never lost a battle. Knowing that we will come out as victors and not victims.

Be encouraged
