Thanks, I know... When i had any contact recently I have merely asked about how she is feeling, how work is going, etc. I have offered to help in any way and had my offer politely turned down. The walls remain high!

One thing, do not ever ask her how's she doing. Keep your questions general and also do not ask what she's been up to, let her volunteer that info.
