Thanks, I know... When i had any contact recently I have merely asked about how she is feeling, how work is going, etc. I have offered to help in any way and had my offer politely turned down. The walls remain high!

Remember, remain interested but do not make offers to help in "any way." That seems too needy. Be there to listen but NOT to be her butler.
