GEL - I think we get the point, you are staying out of this right?

And, quite frankly, I usually choose to stay out of religious debates also (mouth zippered closed)

Yeah, my computer froze up when I hit the send so it posted it three times, now I can't delete them.

SG,

I think we are getting into a semantic debate (which is quite common in religious debates). Usually when someone throws the "unconditional love" thing out there, what they really mean is "don't try to tell me I am wrong about anything."

Yes, an expanded (and proper) view of the word love can mean caring for and about someone despite their behavior, and in the process of loving someone, help them be a better person. It is something, being the helpless sentimental panderer/placater that I am struggle with a lot.

But I'll warn you, I'm a scientist who has made it a mission to not back down to religious fundamentalism when it impinges on good science, yet who grew up in a very fundamentalist Church of Christ household (i.e. I've seen both extremes and everything in-between). So if its a religious debate you want, I'm not scared.

Chrome - who of course will debate friendly, and for the sake of Heywyre, somewhere other than her thread.

I'd love to debate you, Chrome, but first we have to find something we disagree on.

OK

Ummm ... Catholics are really not Christians and are all going to Hell. How's that?

Oh wait, I don't actually agree with that oft stated POV around here. Darn!

Ummm ... praying to Mary is a form of idol worship. Nope, don't agree with that one either. Instrumental music should not be allowed in church. Nope. Homosexuals and women shouldn't be allowed to be pastors. Nope.

Chrome - who is frustrated and thinking about picking on Corri's Quantum Physics stuff just to get a good debate going

Ok, here's the scoop on the "homework"

H gets home about 45 minutes ago and says he has to work tonight/tomorrow (meaning he has to leave at 11:30 tonight. That entails him going to bed about 6:30, but having to eat and clean up before that time)

Right after he tells me he has to work he says, "and I am totally ready to take the full blame tomorrow at the ST's office for not doing our homework. I know I should have taken into account you starting a new job and all, and done it on the weekend. But I promise we will do better."

Comments oh wise ones?

My feathers would be all ruffled that somehow *I* ended up being part of his excuse/justification.

That doesn't mean that I would allow the ruffling to take place in front of him. So, I don't have anything helpful to say at this point.

It does remind me of that old maxim that it's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission.

MrsNop. My H is the master of all excuses. I don't waste my time getting my knickers in a knot over it anymore. I am sure the ST will set him straight as to whose fault it is
