For a book of truth it has been used to promulgate more lies than any other book in history.

Sorry about the pollute, feeling cynical about organized religion lately.

There is no such thing as unconditional love. If someone consistenly abuses you time and time again, and you allow it and continue to do everything they want and be a doormat, its not love anymore IMO, and it certainly isn't self-love.

Of course, that is JMHO

Sure there's unconditional love. I can love all of humanity, and I should, but that doesn't mean I want them to treat me like crap, or be married to them for that matter. A lot of the Christian misconceptions about "love" stem from a simple translation error. The Greek word "agape" in all those heartwarming wedding formulas really means "charity". You know, disinterested, brotherly good-will and affection. Which is what all Christians should cultivate towards their fellow humans, and which, in the Gospels or the letters of St. Paul for example, God is said to feel towards us.

But that doesn't mean they should be allowed to get away with bad behaviour, or not helped along in their personal growth.

Aren't you glad they sent me to Catholic school? ;\)
