This brings up a question that has been on my mind with all the continual discussion of Alpha males: Was Reagan an Alpha male? 'cause he was crazy about Nancy and was not shy about letting her know it regularly. He would even sit in the same room with her and write doting letters to her!"
More than GWB I would attest. Reagan was incredibly charismatic and accepted advice from all his advisors yet always made his own decision, even if it meant blowing up the planet 50 times over.
GWB can't veto anything and rules by committee and I'm sure Dick Cheney knows exactly what to say to push him in the group's direction.
Reagan also as a young man pulled out and aimed his .45 at a mugger on a college campus where he was sitting having a smoke on his window sill. Mugger had a nursing student, I believe, and RR told him he would drop him dead if he didn't let her go.
So alpha is too simplistic, as I've discovered. He is a mature alpha, or king, while the immature alphas are princes ... which, IMO is a less desirable trait than even a weak but principled beta.
Finally, he wrote those letters because he wanted to; not because he needed Nancy's approval. Big difference.
" She said when Grandfather came to rescue her he said "I guess this bull knows a great piece of azz when he sees one." Probably 5 years ago Grandmother was bending over and Grandfather says out loud "Look at that great Azz."
Now that's funny.
I like your grandfather.
Again, he's being funny and confident. He's giving smarmy compliments because it's fun and he wants to ... not because he is worshipping at her feet and waxing poetic how the sun sets on her behind and his life couldn't go on if she were ever to leve him.
So if it's not out of neediness or approval-seeking or insecurity that your F isn't hot for you anymore and you want her validation then I say go for it.
Oh, and try to be charmingly funny too please.

The difference between a warrior and an ordinary man is the warrior views everything as a challenge; the ordinary man views everything as either a blessing or a curse.
