No needles for me, ESPECIALLY in my prostate. OH???? Maybe someday it might be the beat thing to do. I wasn’t too happy about my first prostate digital exam but was convinced I better get one about 10/15 years before the needle biopsy. I know guys that walked out of annual physicalw when the doc wanted to probe the site.
I had the procedure due to working 3rd shift and taking benadryl to sleep during the day. My PSA jumped up rapidly and the specialist in that area wanted to do a biopsy ASAP.
When I first went in for the tests I had no idea what they were going to do. Doc said, "lay on the table sideways, we are going to get some needle samples." I said OK because that is what you do when given the possibilities as to the causes of an elevated PSA.
They weren't bad, especially when I didn't have much time to worry about the procedure.
The upside/downside, Nothing found so "then" they investigated other causes of my elevated PSA.
I would do it again if faced with the same PSA results but after other tests were done, and other causes ruled out.
In the army a 5 or 10-mile hike with a loaded backpack was harder to do than the needle biopsy. Eight pokes BTW.
Afterwards, what surprised me about the biopsy was the red urine. My first thought was "I wonder if this is what women think when they have a period?" My friend is here! Or do they think something else.
Anyway having something like that (what we each had) does give a person a little clue what others experience.
I am usually the type of guy that tried to ignore medical conditions and sickness. If it ain't broke or bleeding really bad, keep going.
Get cut, need Stitches????? Why. Just tape it and wash it off. I am good to go.
I have changed my attitude. That back surgery changed me in many ways.
Doc asked “does this hurt?” “I said it is supposed to hurt. Keep going.”
Too bad ultra sound wouldn't have worked to break up junior.
