Best you can do is to let her go and focus on you. It has been over eight months without progress. Same in my stitch.
Being her friend? Friendship is a two way street and she does not desire it apparently. Don't open yourself up for more hurt. Be civil and support her best you can. Don't argue and don't disagree. Don't contest the D process - you can only slow it down (you have given her time already, so what advantage is that?) and waste your money. But do protect yourself - it is business now.
For your own good get the legal stuff behind you. You have no kids and already sold the house - why do you not settle out of court? That is the easiest and least expensive way.
Some of the WAWs NEED the D piece of paper for closure. But the legal D is different from the emotional one. Perhaps you will be able to reconnect at a later time.
