What you NEED is to make your KIDS happy. I don't give a fig about the personal happiness of PARENTS until their kids are grown and out of the house.

sorry for going back a bit, but i just noticed this, and wanted to reply...

That is poor advice, for two reasons:

1. your marriage will probably never survive that long, if it's all about "make your kids happy"

2. you ensure that your kids will have just as bad a marriage as you have.
For your kids to have a happy marriage.. it's really important that you show them what one looks like. (to the best of your abilities, and the cooperation of your spouse, of course)
