maybe they were just to make HER feel good and weren't for anyone in particular - don't read more into it than it is

Definitely a possibility. My thought was that she might have wanted cute undies so she wouldn't be embarassed in the locker room.

Another good point. Nothing worse than being in a locker room with a lot of hot chicks and you have granny panties on - lol

Really? I've never given a rats azz if my undies were cute in the gym locker room. When I read that I thought "whatever!" The only people I happen to buy my underwear to impress are me...and my H. I've never bought underwear EVER to impress other women. Heck, it's in front of other women that I feel I can wear the comfy granny undies LOL But that's me.

Totally GEL - I said that with tongue in cheek but perhaps it didn't come out that way

I couldn't care less what other women thought of me. Same here, its for me and/or my H, no one else

But Choc's W has other issues.

I'd keep my guard up. No one researches "older woman, younger guy" just for the heck of it. She at least has thoughts in that direction. I think that statement you made is exactly the one you should say to her.

I don't much care about what other women think about my panties either. But women very much into the workout scene (as opposed to just going to they gym, if you know what I mean) are VERY conscious about how they look, their gym apparel, etc.. Their nails, their makeup, and so on... I don't guess that Mrs. Choc wears Walmart warmups to the gym either.

Honestly... when I get my bod into shape, I LOVE going out to shop for new bras and panties, because, #1, I finally have the confidence to wear them, and #2 because they make me feel pretty.

It may just be that.

But... it can also be a sign. One of the first things that people who are about ready to have an affair (or new dating partner for that matter) do is buy new underwear.

Sorry, Choc, don't want to alarm you. Like you said. Trust, by verify.

UPDATE:

Nothing really new to report here. W called me at about 5pm while I was driving back from my mini-business trip, to find out how my presentation had gone (HUGE sale -- cha-ching! :)) , and sounded slightly more loving than usual. When I walked in the door, she was frantically preparing dinner for the family, and waited for me to seek her out for our usual evening peck hello. I was hoping for something at least SLIGHTLY more meaningful, but it was the same.

Later, before leaving for a baseball Board meeting, I had to do the damned-near-trip-her-up-to-get-her-to-stop thing, and pulled her into me for a long and strong hug. I let a strong kiss linger on her forehead, and told her "I love you." and "You do know that, don't you?" She nodded yes, held on tight for a good minute, and I couldn't really tell if she said "I love you too."

The rest of our evening has been as it usually is, and right now she's reading a Victoria Secret catalog on the couch across from me as I type this. It's very difficult to get any "alone" time, as we not only have our four kids in the house tonite, but also D18's BFF is sleeping over.

Any more meaning convo will have to wait.

I don't think she ever opened my follow-up e-mail today, where I basically said "screw that" and I went first and laid my love for her on the line. I'm extremely anxious (and starting to feel impending doom) about how she is going to answer that. Because noticeably absent in her first two e-mails are ANY words of "I love you," and for the past two days, I can't for the life of me find her cell phone.
