Hey there j,

I feel for you, my oldest daughter is long gone and my oldest son at 15 seems to be grown up and gone from the house most of the time. All I have left is my 13 yr old son and 4 dogs ;\)

I really feel bad for the kids and my wife that she has missed a whole year of their lives, she'll never get that back, no matter how much she runs around searching for happiness. I missed 6 months of their lives last year so I know what I'm talking about. I also worked out of town when my kids were young and missed some of their childhood. As much as my wife is "done raising kids" and I really wouldn't want to start over raising kids, I do miss them needing me, I miss being needed maybe by my wife so I want to replace it with being needed by a baby or something, who knows.

I'm pretty nostalgic so I understand what you mean by missing the little things about the kids, all that is left of their childhood are some photos and a video tape or two. Unfortunately I have the same feelings about losing my wife too.

I hope your son's hand heals and doesn't limit his pursuits. I hope you liked my gentle prodding about when are you moving in response to your being overwhelmed by fear today ;\)

You'd better get that case settled so you've be ready to move out, you need to get your daughter integrated in to your new town before school starts. I moved my kids in June of last year and they sat in the house all summer playing with each other and over the Internet with their old friends and didn't make any new friends until school started. I don't know if moving them mid-summer or late summer would have been better, I'm thinking mid-summer so they could have had some time to spend with their old friends and still had some time to get aclimated before starting school. Sucks that you have to make all the arrangements, hope it all goes well, I hate moving and don't wish it upon anyone, but I do wish my wife was missing and lonely for me like your husband is telling you. Have a good summer with your kids!
