Can anyone tell me, in a nutshell, what this book "The Secret" is about?? Is it a book on getting your marriage back in perspective & moving towards a common goal or about your own life & doing things on your own??

Kim, The Secret is basically about the Law of Attraction, and it discusses how you can use this concept in your life. IOW, positive thoughts attract positive outcomes, and negative thoughts attract negative outcomes. There is a dvd and audio cd's as well. It's pretty simplistic, but as I discussed earlier in this thread, sometimes we need things to be straightforward, and repetitive, in order to 'get it'.

It's all about GAL, and working on yourself. Once we are in a positive mental state, and our self-esteem is normal, then we can tend to draw positive things into our lives. And, that may include our M.

Thanks for the good wishes for my upcoming trip, Phoenix. I am not into driving, but I intend taking my time, stopping at various places to take pictures, and maybe do some sketching. I have the audio cd's of The Secret so will listen to that, plus some inspirational music.

It has nothing to do with marriage, relationships or anything else in particular.

The "secret" is no different from any other inspirational movie, DVD, book (whichever one you choose) that is out there on the shelves. I don't want to drag it down, it has helped a lot of people but it is what is inside of YOU that will make the difference in your life

It is quite simple really. What it portrays is: IF you think positively, positive things will come into your life and if you think negatively, you will attract negative things. Not rocket science is it? I don't think I need to spend even 5¢ for someone to tell me that.

I don't want to sound critical but, really, it is basic stuff and quite frankly, based on the situations we are all going through here, I would rather spend my money on a book like "After the Affair" than the Secret (just my opinion of course - no offence to others)

Thanks for letting me know guys! I was very curious & had to ask b/c there are 3 books that my H has been reading lately,,Boundaries,,The Gift?I think & The Secret! I was just getting a feel for where he might have been coming from!

Of course, i'm like you,,,i'm reading 5LL's & SSM,,reading for 3rd time Divorce Busting & Divorce Remedy! They seem different,,I have read some of "Boundaries" but find it a bit sexist, as the author uses a lot of SHE/HER connotations in his examples of "bad behaviour",,,I don't agree,,I think it goes both ways!!
