It's a blood transfusion. RBC's are red blood cells and when your RBC count gets low you are diagnosed with anemia. Anemia of preganancy is pretty normal with your body's increased water volume. The fact that your nutrition is poor makes it more of an issue. Blood transfusions nowadays are quite safe. The blood banks test the blood for strains of virus' not even found in humans yet. I have given many blood tranfusions over the years and not seen or heard of anyone contracting a disease. The biggest risk is a transfusion reaction which is rare, especially if you have never had a transfusion before.

It is risky due to the possibilty of clotting problems after delivery. Get the blood transfusion and ferritin (iron) transfusions with no worries. Gotta take care of LL now!
