Aloha everyone!

Well, I totally blew it today, lol. H and I took the kids to see Finding Nemo, and I ATE! LOL

We bought a large popcorn, soda, and I had brought some little chocolate donuts the kids like. I ate so much popcorn, some donuts, and my entire soda, I'm ready to puke!

Well, back on track tomorrow I guess. I took today off from walking, I usually take a day or sometimes two off from my morning walk.

I also stopped taking birth control pills. H got "fixed" after we had D #2, and I went on them because I had been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I'm lucky though, because most people can't even get pregnant if they have it! Anyway, it darkened some skin on my face and since I've stopped, I feel a lot better and the marks have faded some. If you know anything about PCOS, you know that some people get excess hair. I have a bit on my face that I always waxed, or tweezed. The pill was supposed to lessen it, it didn't. Oh well, maybe I'll have it lasered, no biggie.

My moods have been so much better, our life is really great. I've learned how lucky I am to have this board. It's a great place to come and vent (as I did on Father's Day) without taking it all out on H. By the time we discussed it, I wasn't really upset about it because I wrote about it here and got some replies. H and I have really learned to communicate much better in the past 8 months.

Anyway, JOIN us for the Challenge!! Even if you don't follow to the "T", it's a great way to get started, or continue working on yourself!

I feel so much better since the bomb was dropped. I have life now, I have a great H, great kids, and I actually am truly happy!! H tells me how happy he is too. He wrote me a love letter the other day, after the Father's Day incident. He wrote how much he loves me, how this is the happiest he's been in a long time, etc. How he hopes he can make me as happy as I've made him!!

I've always been a writer, and since I'm a teacher I love to write and to read, so I've started a book. I am just writing about my life, the lessons I've learned, etc. Who knows who will read it, maybe just my kids and H, or more people. I will post some journaling on here at another time. Hope everyone is doing well, and working on their Body For Life!!

Wow, twice in one night! (being #1 that is )

Great news, Teach!

I almost didn't open your thread because of the title...just had a weekend full of BBQ's and too much food.

But you know? I still do my full work out, have the flexibility of a 20 year old (better than some I'll bet) and under these 10 extra pounds are all the muscles my free weights and biking have built of over the past 6 years. I'd rather be fit than skinny any day!

(Although I wouldn't turn my nose up at 10 lbs thinner and fit!!! ).

Shiny

Anyone have any eating plans they want to share? Looking for ideas. I'm on the run all the time and need things fast and easy!

Jill -
This is the diet plan that finally worked for me when I lost the first twenty pounds. Slightly modified from "The Warrior Diet" - actually kind of a schlocky book, I didn't bother to buy it after I looked at it, but did read a magazine article about the basic plan. During the day, you eat only vegetables, some fruit, and some protein. For dinner, eat whatever your family's having, but eat your veggies first, your protein second, then your carbs (better potatoes or rice than bread, but whatever). I used to eat a veggie burger for breakfats (not a soy burger, but these kinda hash-brown tastin' things with a little oat bran, corn, whole soybeans etc,. Probably hard for you to find. Eggwhites with veggies would be good.)

For lunch, a large salad with chicken breast and veggies (Subway or Jack-in-the-Box have good ones, so I could eat out if I was out with the kids). V-8 juice and those individual carrot stick packages with dressing to dip them in, or fruit, for snacks. Then dinner, I could make my family's usual meals, just add a chicken breast for me if it was pasta, and eat a small portion of pasta last.

I found this worked for me because when I eat carbs I tend to get food cravings - this way, my diet was balanced, and I only ate the carbs when I was already almost full. Plus, I could enjoy a regular dinner wiht my family without feeling deprived.
