NQ, Thanks for the recipe There's only 2 of us you know, lol. My problem is my timings - I go out at about 8am in the morning and don't get home until 5pm.
I know that feeling - there's only 3 here so that recipe is too big for one meal. I will usually do this on a weekend, then split it into meal size portions and freeze it. I'm trying to get into the habit of spending one Saturday a month cooking stuff for the freezer so that I don't have to spend as much time in the grocery store every week or in the kitchen every day

ooo I'm not that organised, lol. Weekends is busy enough as it is without cooking all weekend, lol. My son keeps on saying when can he have his friends over and I think the earliest at the mo is about the 12th October! Too much GALing to be done at the weekend, lol. I am seriously thinking about changing the locks because I know that H won't give me his key as I've asked for it before. I need to seek advice over this though as he owns half the house. Well in writing he does, but in reality he won't get hald if we go through D.

OK just looked it up if anyone is interested If your spouse has left and has his name on the deeds then you can't change the locks. However, someone posted on another forum that I can put a chain on the door to stop him getting in when I'm not there Guess what I'm going to buy tomorrow? hehe You can get these chains that you can lock from the outside just before you close the door and put the lock on. Nice one

I was thinking I'd spend a Sunday in the kitchen cooking, with the smell of home cooking wafting around the house while H is visiting S13. Or is that just being mean Might make him think again about what he's doing and what he plans to do in future

I think that's a good idea that you do your cooking on the Sunday when he picks your son up to take him out He'll probably want some though so be ready for that! One Sunday I'm going to have a full roast sunday dinner going in the oven. Mind you now he's got this friend, she will more likely be feeding him better! He used to whine at me that he hasn't had a sunday dinner in ages. I always think when he says things like that = well you shouldn't have left then!

I've seen that once a month cooking before. I'd be lucky if I can do once a week. But, I do need to do more home cooking. Only problem is, with diabetes, it's nice to see the nutritional info on the packaged stuff. But, overall, I'd probably be better off just cooking healthy meals.

I hear you on that one MH. My dad is Type 2, insulin dependent. I went out and picked up a couple of diabetic cookbooks from the library and copied out several recipes that sounded good. I've also used good old Google to find them as well.

I like using the BBC good foods website. They've got a good search facility on there that allows you to pick and choose what recipes to have, ie. Low fat, low cost, etc and also the ingredients that you've got in the freezer as well MH, I'm not good with once a month cooking either! I do make my own food most nights and some nights we have food straight from the freezer. If I really haven't got a lot of time or I'm feeling really lazy or tired, I'll cook us up some party food like mini pizzas, etc. and we'll have it in front of the TV Saturday is always pizza night and I normally make my own French bread pizza and garlic bread. The only thing I've frozen recently is some bolognese that was left over when I did a meal for us both and I'm not sure how long that's been in the freezer, lol.

I’m not good at it either. I just make the plans to set aside one day to do a whole batch of food then something else comes along which takes the place of those plans . Maybe that would be a 180 for me LOL.

I’ve got some mystery food in my freezer that’s been there for so long that I don’t even remember putting it in there . And when I first moved in with Dad, I had to clear out his freezer as he had homemade spaghetti sauce and homemade freezer jam that had a date about 10 years prior on the lids – and dad was pretty sure that was the correct date. Wasn’t going to take my chances with it. Maybe I should add cleaning out the fridge and freezer to my latest to-do list . Think I'm going to have to borrow that "Round To-it" from my sister .
