"Get back to the Gym" - do you have a active membership? If not, getting one should be the goal. If you do can you try for 2X a week?
Make a new friend - Great long term goal and your other goals will help you achieve this

Thanks. I will find a book to read, Hemingway... idk lol I have a membership to a gym. I higher power may not be from a church. Living in a college town, groups should start back up soon. Going to attempt senior pics with my oldest D. Youngest just started deriving with a permit, so lots of opportunity there.

That's brill I've never actually written down my goals/GALs. Is there a thread where you can post your goals/GALs? If not, I think we should start one I'd also like to know what you mean by a higher power? If you do mean a Church then you can also meet some great friends there, so that's two goals ticked off Instead of change what I don't like about me, change that to a positive. You can get it to read - Be the best that I can be. I have two books on the go, one is the latest novel by my favourite author - Wedding nights by Sophie Kinsella (and no the title doesn't make me sad!) and 5 love languages by Gary Chapman. I always have one self help book and one novel to read and I switch from one to the other depending on my mood. I agree with PS above regarding the other goals

TryingToDo180, most members put goal/GAL's in their own topic pages. That way others can assist with your focus on these. jp some good goals, all I can suggest, as someone said to me, make them smaller. Similar to what positivespin is saying: start with one book, what type of topics do you like? Higher power: are you going to read up on them? Or visit a different one each weekend? New activity: great, but what? Adventure, club, by yourself or in a group? Good luck jp, it is a step in the right direction.

You've said that making a new friend is a hard one but it doesn't necessarily have to be. If your new activity is a group activity, then you'll automatically know you have one thing in common with everyone in the group. I, myself will be taking a French class and hope to make some new friends there that I can meet out of class time and practise with.

I made some new friends by joining a local committee, which is focussing on bringing the community together. This year we organised a village carnival. I've been on the committee for about a year now and when my H left me I found myself with new single friends from the committee. The dynamics change when you're suddenly single. I agree with ANH, if you join new clubs/activities then you will make new friends.

I am going to disagree with Positive Spin. I don't think you should remove the goal of changing things about yourself that you don't like.
You definately should work to be the kind of person you like.
Now, your goal is very broad. So it needs to be narrowed down...
What are small things you don't like?
Hair, shower habits, the way you dress, how much time you spend in front of the tv (or computer, video game, etc...)...
I know there are bigger things, but its always best and easiest to start small. And generally with stuff you can see results faily quickly with. The harder stuff comes later.
So that is my example of a list...

1. Finding a book - by Friday or do you need until Sunday? 2. Going to the Gym - When this week? 3. Higher power - will be a long term goal, what would be a good first step in this process? 4. Any type of group that you would be interested in? 5. Can you set up a appointment (block of date and time) with daughter re:pictures. Whiteboard ideas about locations, outfits etc ??? 6. Can you set up a appointment with Daughter for driving time?
P.S. You set up a date and time because it shows them your serious and keeps interruptions away from "Their Time".
