25, not sure if you know this.

Adele has been interviewed about this song (and it's respective album, which is specifically themed). You should be able to find video of it or news references on that video web site.

Anyhow, the album is based on Adele being a WAS (she was). The song is described by her as coming out of the fog for a moment, finding her exBF with someone else, and her expressing herself herself about the grief she realizes she holds from the lost R.

Like I said, not sure if you knew that, hard to tell from your post, so just putting it out there... smile

It's Gloria Gaynor. Love that song! I listen to the one by Cake, it's more raw.

Gloria Gaynor Rocks!

I would also add "No more Drama" by Mary J. Blige
Uh, it feel so good
When you let go
Of all the drama in your life
Now you're free from all the pain
Free from all the game
Free from all the stress
So find your happiness
I don't know
Only God knows where the story ends for me
But I know where the story begins
It's up to us to choose
Whether we win or loose
And I choose to win

Speaks to me: You Were Meant For Me by Jewel. I would cry and sing that one over and over.

Also speaks to me: Jimmy Eat World's The Middle, because I am the middle child of seven girls, and know how it feels to be looked down on by some of them because I am so different from them. This one also makes me feel better! smile

Banned: Anything and Everything of Faith Hill's. H and ow apparently loved her music, so it makes me sick to my stomach.

Great idea, 25! Speaking of B.B. King, he also wrote a lot of great "kiss-off" songs, too. My favorite in this category is "I'll Survive" because it's not as angry as stuff like "The Thrill is Gone" or "Ain't Nobody Home":

You say you're leaving, you've shattered my dreams
All of our plans dear, forgotten it seems
Yes, it had to happen
I'm not surprised, but I'll, I'll survive

Your friends have shown you a much better way
All of my loving you baby, all of those years, ended today
Yes, you go on darlin'
I'll dry my eyes, but I'll, I'll survive

Go on! May God bless you
It was fun. While it was fun
Baby, I hate to lose you
I say I hate to lose you baby

It's all over! What's done is done
Hey! you go on darlin', seek your fortune and fame
All your good luck or bad luck
Your friends must take the blame
Oh! I can't beg you no more baby
I've got too much pride, but I'll, I'll survive

Oh, go on! May God bless you
Oh, it was fun. While it was fun
Oh baby, I hate to lose you
I say I hate to lose you baby

It's all over! What's done is done
Hey! You go on baby, seek your fortune and fame
All your good good luck or bad luck
Friends must take the blame
Oh! I can't beg you no more
I've got too much pride, but I'll, I'll survive

Oh! I'll, I'll survive
Baby, I'll survive

Sara Evan's "A Little Bit Stronger" is a great one, too. smile

Great thread!

I had several "playlists" while going through my sitch that I listened to, depending on my mood.

When feeling empowered:
Mean by Taylor Swift
Irreplaceable by Beyonce
Best Thing I Never Had by Beyonce
Goodbye Earl by Dixie Chicks
Hole in My Head by Dixie Chicks
Wide Open Spaces by Dixie Chicks
Pray for You by Jaron and the Long Road to Love (this song is hysterical!)
You'll Think of Me by Keith Urban
Goodbye by Kristina DeBarge
Ridin' Solo by Jason Derulo
and OF COURSE!!!
I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

Songs when I needed to cry:
Blessings by Laura Story
Chasing Pavements by Adele
Heal the Wound by Point of Grace
Make You Feel My Love by Adele
Mountain of God by Third Day
The Story by Brenda Carlile
Ghost by Indigo Girls

Ones I Still Have Trouble Hearing:
Last Tears by Indigo Girls (EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS!)
Baby Hold On by Dixie Chicks
Chances by Five for Fighting
Coming Home by Diddy
Everybody Knows by Dixie Chicks
Hard to Say I'm Sorry by Chicago
For the First Time by the Script
It Ain't Over Til It's Over by Lenny Kravitz
You Were Meant for Me by Jewel
100 Years by Five for Fighting

I obviously love many different kinds of music, and my lists are much, much longer...these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head!
