I believe my H's lasted 3 months in total. It may have been four since he says his feelings began a month before he gave me the BD.

I'm curious to know if MLC can last a short amount of time and if anyone on the forum has a spouse whose was short as well?

Thank you

I never heard of it, more than likely a touch and go.

My XH said his lasted a year, so that when he chose the direction of OW he proclaimed it "over." LOL. To my understanding a MLC doesn't "end" when they make the decision to end their marriage and go off with someone else...it's only the beginning.

What makes you think it's over, just rational behavior? If so I agree with Cadet, it sounds like touch and go, because you really need to see a long-term pattern of "normal" and the remorse and owning what they did for it to truly be over.

If it truly only last 3 months, I question it's viability as a MLC. Not being acquainted with your circumstances, I wonder if he used MLC as "an excuse" for bad behavior. If that is the case, do not let your guard down. There very likely may still be stormy seas ahead. Either way, I wouldn't think the fat lady has sang yet.

Actually I've heard of cases where an MLC finishes quickly...HOWEVER, they have to get rid of all the junk that lead them to that point in the first place. That's in all cases that MLC is involved.

Some can process it faster than others.

Got to say, MrBond, if a man, excuse me, person can 'get rid of all the junk that lead them to that point' in 3 months, they must be all of 7 years old.

I would honestly say no, it's not a short time situation. I tend to agree with the touch and go situation.

LOL.

Actually when you do the research there are quite a few that have short MLCs. Sometimes the fear of D and separation from family and spouse serves as a catalyst to speed the MLC process.

It also depends on what their main issue was. For example, if their unhappiness was caused by a job issue, sometimes a simple shift in that is enough.

Sometimes there are those people who are aware that what they're feeling isn't 'right' and seek help right away.

Could it have been 3-4 months? Yes.

It is likely?

MLC tends to last a long time.

But statistics are just genereally numbers...generalized.
