I'm thinking of switching my online dating profile to this...even though Kat thinks my existing one is very sweet. But a real man has gotta go with his gut on these things:
Hey ladies, I'm just a guy looking to fill an empty armchair in my living room. Channel surfing is always better done with that special someone. I'm also a fitness junkie and every evening I do quite a few sets of opening and closing the fridge door at lightning fast speed. I like to alternate arms to challenge myself. I usually add a little cardio to my work out by putting down the remote and walking over to the TV and changing the channels manually. Yet I'm not all about my body! I love those quiet walks to the garbage chute and making things happen for the environment by using the recycle bins. As you may have guessed already, I'm an avid nature lover and on weekends love to lie in bed all day listening to the birds chirp outside my window. I've always had a soft spot for animals because they're so delicious. I'm also a spiritual person and can often be found just sitting in my car meditating to Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds. The apartment underground is where I like to go to get away from it all because travel should be a part of any well balanced lifestyle. When I’m not travelling I’m enjoying a smokin' social life! There are always people at my door, in fact, each week these really nice people called Jehovah Witnesses come by to visit me. We talk for hours and before they leave they're talking about coming back to visit me again! People just seem to be naturally drawn to me. How about you? So, if you'd like to share in this adventure you know what to do...because I obviously don't! Hey, and don't forget to bring the beer. Btw, I hate being on a dating site and don't know what to write about myself (we guys always have to write this). Go Leafs Go!
I will repeat my advice from 2 months ago and all along. GO SLOW!
I would be scared to get a too personal too over the top message from a stranger. There is so much to be said for "mystique". Finding out about someone a bit at a time. Revealing all first off is too much too soon.
And why write off a couple of girls who are interested in you? What's up with that. Maybe you think you know your type but maybe you're wrong. I never thought Josh was "my type" but I'm sure glad I got to know and love him. Having interest has to start with one person. You meet. You see if there is interest or spark. You decide if it works or not.
JMHO.
Good luck. I am happy that you are giving it a go. There are many women out there who would love being with you. Now go find one of them.
Uh, just to clarify I would never post the profile I just presented, it was a joke...really! The real one I posted is "very sweet", as Kat said. I like it. It has humour but addresses the things I'm passionate about in life too. We'll see where it goes. Later Dbers.
Well, Whatis scored...sort of. I picked out a lady who appealed to me...violated my no Filipino rule (Hey, she's not Muslim...I hope lol) I emailed her a nice message, threw in some Tagalog and bingo she's interested. In her profile she wrote that she was a jack of all trades so I titled my message "does jack of all trades need an assistant?" She emailed back today, two days later "Sorry, position closed for now lol" she said her work schedule just got really hectic and is working seven days a week for a bit but she would very much like to meet when things slowed down. She asked some brief questions and told me she loved my Tagalog! So, I emailed her back saying I understood her work situation and looked forward to seeing each other at some point in the near future. I mentioned she should feel free to email me and chat anytime. Hit her with another Tagalog phrase "until next time" in my goodbye. So, we'll see. It was nice to see that one of my tailored approaches got a positive response, I've sent three. She seems to have a nice sense of humour too. Oh, and she did check my profile, I checked. I won't be holding my breath but again it was nice to get an interested reply to my message. It shows I'm doing something right.
