Actually CTH, I really enjoyed online messaging with MM but that was because I knew her and we had a relationship. We knew each others sense of humour and could say stuff that neither had to say "WTH did that mean?" My best friend is on E-Harmony and he was showing me his matches last week, not a bad crop there. I don't think he's had a date yet but I don't think he's been really putting a lot into it at this point.
I've just always been someone who likes to warm up to someone in person, get to know them and then make my move. Meeting someone online feels odd to me. Of course, most things feel odd (cognitive dissonance, as we call it in the cognitive therapy world) until you get into doing them. What do you talk about online? "Hmm, I see you like lasagna" Maybe I'm just a big chicken ...I'll put that in my profile "I'm a big chicken with a big heart" lol. Nah, I think I'll just stick to healing for a few more weeks at least!

I like that Gabbysmom, it pretty much sums up what our whole brief R was. I see her as a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Every layer you unwrap you just find another puzzle, never an answer. It's how she protects herself I guess. My best friend calls her "the little 5 ft wrecking ball just swinging through life". Unfortunately, smoke and mirrors doesn't really get you very far in R's. What it got her was a one way ticket back to alonesness where she probably functions best anyway. So sad and now I have to pick my own horses at the racetrack...which is probably even sadder! lol

Hey, just got a new dating match in my email...not that I asked for any...or I probably did without remembering it, who knows. They're fun to look at anyway. Well, this one's perfect! She's a lawyer from the Philippines who practises there and tries to come here once per year. How much better can it get than that?! I'd never have to see her, how could a R like that ever go wrong. I better start boning up on my Tagalog messaging skills again. They sure matched me up, how did they know my needs so expertly just from me telling them my age, gender and location! Wow, maybe this online dating thing really is the answer.lol

From my lawyer's website:
The following is a fee breakdown for a simple and uncontested divorce, not including lawyer’s fees (as of August 2010):

•The fee for issuing an application is $157.00.
•A $10.00 search registry fee.
•A $64.20 fee for service (by a process server).
•The fee for a motion for judgment is $280.00.
•A $53.50 fee is charged by the court clerk for filing attendances and HST
•A certificate of divorce will cost approximately $19.00. (You should be aware that this final fee may be waived because it is not necessary that you obtain a certificate after an order has been made. If you eventually plan on re-marrying then you will need to pay the fee and obtain a certificate as it will provide conclusive proof of the validity of your divorce.)
The total of all the above fees, for a divorce in the Province of Ontario, is $583.70 (not including lawyers' fees).

Yeah, it's that whole "not including lawyer's fees" where they get you. The filing fees are cheap. The lawyer's fees are in the thousands. What is your L's hourly rate?

For a junior lawyer I paid $160 per hour for the SA.

I was pretty lucky. The lawyer that I found through my employer's EAP (Employee Assistance Program) gave me a 25% discount on her fees so I am playing less than $200/hr. Haven't needed her much in the last year and a half so the retainer I paid to her has a sizeable balance. Now that we're getting back on the D train, I expect that it will decrease rather quickly.

I'll post more details on my thread before the weekend... frown
