So this morning I was running errands with my son while D4 Sydney was at Dance Camp (she gets to perform at the HS football game next Friday!)....and I had a Mary Chapin Carpenter song in my head that I hadn't heard in ages! The one with this chorus:
Shouldn't I have this Shouldn't I have this Shouldn't I have all of this, and
Passionate kisses Passionate kisses, whoa oh oh Passionate kisses from you
So last April I went to my High School friend Chad's 35th bday party. I was invited by other HS friend Chris (aka golf guy)... So it was kind of a date, but was a group thing.
I have kept in touch w/ Chad's wife via FB, plus I see her around town. She invited me to her parents' house for their annual Luau tonight. I decided to go as it sounded fun. Then Golf Guy texted me Monday to see if I was going, or if I would like to go (he is best friends with Chad)...I told him I was planning on it. He invited me to golf with him first. However, I had to get a sitter for the luau so I couldn't spend the entire day!
Anyway I was not looking forward to it all that much, for some reason, till I got there. It was awesome!!! The adults played kickball. GG didn't want to play so I got on a random team. Knew a few people by their faces but didn't know most of them. We won--I pegged a guy with a ball to get him out, and I also scored a run. yay me!
I also mingled a lot, GG and I would reconnect every 15-20 minutes to chat and then we would walk around and talk. Hot plumber's (my first HS boyfriend) sister was there, she hugged me and remembered me although we hadn't talked in 15 years! Wants to get me and him to go out again. I told her I would be interested in getting together some time...
I also had a few other guys approach me to chat, who said they knew me from various places... (church, the Y, school, etc). Again, fun! Then GG entered the Hula Hoop contest, and lost! And after that I entered the tricycle race and it was hilarious even though I fell off the trike! Seriously, kickball, hula hoops and tricycle races? Felt like college again
My sitter had to leave at ten thirty or I would absolutely still be there...so GG walked me to my car and he kissed me. So, I kissed him back. And then we kissed for a minute or so but I had to leave bc sitter had firm plans for the late evening--ah, to be 20 again like her!!
First 'good' kiss I have gotten in two years....about freakin time! I told GG I would be up to Des Moines (where he lives) to visit my sis sometime and we could get together. He said he would drive down here to see me again any time...
Mary Chapin Carpenter is my all time favorite country western singer/song writer. Her "Stones in the Road" album is my favorite along with this song... Why Walk When You Can Fly.
Getting that good kiss is very satisfying. It brings out those "feel good" endorphins. I've had it with a couple ladies since my divorce. Good stuff! But something was not quite all there. The ultimate goal is to find the guy for you that keeps it there for life. Does golf guy have enough of the Bobbi Jo check boxes checked? Probably too early to tell right now, but keep having fun. Des Moines is less than 45 minutes away if John210 lets you borrow his Ferrari 458 Italia.
I have no idea if he has all the pieces. I don't really care that much, either. Cause I know I am not ready for 'serious relationship' yet. Heck, it was almost 5 months between dates with GG! Just nice to get a good kiss after a long dry spell...
Seriously, it was the most fun I have had since last Homecoming when I went out with a bunch of people.
It reminded me of college parties, but no one was throwing up. Just lots of people talking, drinking, and having fun. I have not played kick ball in years!!! The rules were, you had to have a drink in one hand at all times (any drink, pop, water, beer, whatever); and you could not wear your shoes!! It felt so awesome to throw the ball and get a guy out.
The host had made a giant bucket of lemonade that was passed around all night. Someone said it was gin, which I never drink. All I know was it tasted like lemonade with zero alcohol flavor. Good thing it was being passed around and not poured into big cups or I would have been in trouble!
GG asked me to text when I got home. I texted that I made it back, but wished I was there. He replied, "Well i wish I was there" (with me)...very sweet. Then an hour later he texted that he made it back to the house of the people he was staying with--the ones who had the bday party we went to in April.
Such a good time! Another high school classmate was there who I see on FB but haven't talked to in years. He is a single dad so we traded stories about our vacations with our kids. It was nice to talk to someone else who 'gets it'...
Then a guy from church was there with his wife. I have never seen him drink but it was apparent he had quite a few. He introduced me to a guy there and an hour later when he saw me again he said he had been trying to 'hook us up'...um, no thanks! I was not interested in that guy. But funny that he was trying to play match maker.
Today has been busy. Dropped $100 at the dance store, Sydney signed up for dancing and had to get ballet shoes, tap shoes, and tights. I bought her leotards and ballet bag at Target bc it was cheaper there...and I got Nathan a basketball bc he wants to play Y ball this winter. Things are going to get even busier around here!!
I got home from work Friday, there is a msg on my answering machine at home. "This is XYZ Hospital calling Dan to remind him of his MRI appointment on Monday at 4:00 p.m."....
Say what?
Okay, first, he has been out of the house for 18 months. Why is he still giving out my address and phone number as his contact info? His dental bills come here and he didn't even start going to the dentist here until AFTER he moved out? And for the MRI surely he must have had to fill out paperwork first....also I thought with new privacy laws you could not give out info on answering machines unless you gave permission? I mean just saying an appt confirmation is one thing, but she said straight out it was for an MRI.
Second, what? MRI? The guy is falling apart! Last month he had those skin spots removed and tested for cancer. Then 2 weeks ago he sent me a text/picture message of his head with staples in it from a log chain. Now, an MRI... Honestly I do hope everything is okay.
