If you read my post from last night then you know I am not in a good place. I realized last night that I want to stop focusing on my H and our R and really get excited about me and what I can do! Does anybody have some books they can recommend that might help me get motivated to live my life in the best way possible. I need something uplifting!! It can be Christian but it doesn't have to be. I want to stop reading about relationships and divorce and get back the old me. I used to be so self motivated and did my own thing. Somewhere along the way in trying to be a "good" wife and mother I have lost me and I don't know where to begin. Right now everything seems like an uphill struggle and it feels like I am walking in mud as I go up this mountain!! I want to get excited about life again and what possibilities lie ahead for me.

Financially I will be okay if we divorce so I am not limited to what I can do. I have not worked in years but there is a non-profit company that wants to higher me to educate the community on their services. Believe it or not but they are a place for domestic and sexual abuse victims. They try to help empower women to be on their own and to get out of bad situations!! I am excited about the job but that won't start for a couple of months. In the meantime I need something that will help me build my self esteem. It has really taken a beating in all of this!!

I am sure many of you have read things that helped you improve your self esteem and got you excited about what could be ahead for you! Please share it with me!!

This is called GAL. I would suggest that you get michelles book Divorce Busting and Divorce Remedy. She may have some other books also but DB'ing can help change your life. I don't think it is just about relationships. Doing 180's and interacting with other people will occur whether or not you stay married. Maybe some other people will chime in with some other books.

Try to keep one thread it is easier for everyone to see your situation rather than making multiple posts

Don't know if these will be helpful, but I've heard these two authors mentioned repeatedly by therapists.

You can read all the books you want about improving your self esteem...but until you start feeling better about yourself it is pointless.

You can read all you want, about "Gosh darn it, people like me..."

But improve yourself, change the thing YOU don't like about YOU and you're self esteem WILL grow.

How do you view yourself? Be honest, and work toward becoming the person you want in your mind.

There are some great books to help you focus on your own healing and your own self esteem.

Two of my current favourites are both oldies but goodies

Louise Hay - You can heal your life; and
Abby Seixas - Finding the Deep River Within: A Woman's Guide to Recovering Balance and Meaning in Everyday Life

I've got more (biggest mob more) if you want, but those two would be a good start.
