Yep, just like Jeff says. Ebbs and flows (new words for me Jeff!!) Holidays make people look for help and support more...

I always get sad when I see so many new names and people posting 30 times a day. Like I used to, for months and months (still do sometimes)...

I think the holidays are the worst because it reminds us of the good times when our families were intact.

sucks but it is what it is.

I would second that.

This was my first holiday season while on the boards. It did seem to pick up around Christmas, then again around NYE.

Thank God for this place, but the necessity for it is disheartening.

I know. As I said to Gnosis.

I am glad I meet ya.
But I wish we never had to meet.

Best place you never wanted to be.

Interesting question, Cutter. I myself have been thinking for a couple of months now that it IS busier these days, altho I have nothing empirical to back that up. It seems overwhelming at times -- so much pain -- and hard to get to everyone.

It's sad. I think the holidays factor in, and I also think the economy does. When people are hurting, and have voids in their lives, they often try to fill them with something inappropriate.

I forget where I was reading it, I think in a local paper, but there was an article I read recently that related the "economic recovery" (if you believe the economy has turned the corner - not so sure just yet) to an uptick in D filings. The conclusion was thatpeople have been waiting on more economic stability before filing.

I haven't read that specifically, but I have been reading the converse of that for the past year or so: that people AREN'T getting divorced because they can't afford to. They're continuing to live in the same house, platonically, until such time as they can afford to fund a divorce settlement.
