I'll be back to *my* walking next week again.... until the dreaded vasectomy on Friday. Don't think I'll be walking for a while after that.
You'll be walking again soon enough....gingerly....within a few days. I had mine on a Friday and was able to return to the office again on the following monday --> albeit, not climbing stairs, not running down the hall, or especially, NOT plopping down into chairs.
As I said before, stock up on a couple of bags of frozen peas, and over the weekend after the procedure, make them your very best friends. Your wife may even get jealous over all the 'cuddle time' those peas will get from you over those few days.
I'd guess that within a couple of weeks, you'll be able to resume your exercise walking, although a nice, 'bouncing' jog may still be uncomfortable.
You only have to go through it once, and within 6-8 weeks, your testing will be done and you'll be cleared to walk the wire without a net, for a change.
Perhaps I need a mew metaphore....

Hey B - Actually my Doc is of the compression camp. NO ICE, they even stress not to use ice at all in the info pack. They have a compression dressing that they modify a jock strap to hold in place. I'll report on how that works (and feels). When he first told me that's how he treats post op swelling I was a little surprised.
I've already taken one each of the antibiotic and pain meds to be sure no adverse reaction as instructed by Doc. I bought a jock strap a couple of days ago and since I have a small waist, I had to get a youth large. When I got it home I pulled it out of the package a realized the huge... make that small mistake I made. The pouch was *way* to small to hold adult sized "equipment". I would have been spilling out of that thing. Took it back and found a proper adult sized one at another store.
The metaphor I like is: No longer having to wear a raincoat to go into the rain.
Well got to get going to do some more move-in stuff for mom.
Ok my mom is all moved in so I'll have more time for posting. She is really liking the new apartment, it's a new phase in her life and with her positive spirit she is embracing it and looking forward to making some new friends there.
Saturday evening W was in a horrible mood. No matter what D and I did or said she would respond negatively. I decided to just leave her alone for the night. She even spent the evening alone in another room doing her own thing.
Sunday evening in a complete opposite swing her mood was great. I guess she is just having hormonal swings? It was like night and day she even wanted to ML this night. She is trying now, I do see it in her. She did not initiate but made it clear that she was open to giving and receiving affection.
If she could only see the good things in our life instead of dwelling on the bad. There is so much for us to be grateful for. We live in a beautiful world full of hope and good things. I want her to see how wonderful life can be if she will just open herself to it.
I have one comment to add about the moods. Does your Wife ever get any alone time? I know for me I hardly ever do when H is home and then the kids. I have those moods once in awhile and then MY H will call me on it. OOPS~ For me it feels like I am overwhelmed and I just want a moment to be me ,not a Wife, nor a MOM. I feel ugly, grouchy and even angry. I can feel it come up in me and I know that I need to take a break. So good for you giving her that alone time. I think that also helped her to want to be giving the next day with you.
Maybe she needs to get out more by herself? It would be beneficial for her to recharge... out for Coffee, get her hair done. Go to the gym... whatever she likes. You sound much better Cinco... Way to go..... ~Ava
Hi Cinco, Dude, get ice packs or a frozen bag of peas. Use em to keep the swelling down! Don't do anything except sit in a nice comfy chair for 2 days. Relax. I had a few beers afterwards and sat in the backyard to make sure I was relaxed right after.
Hey, C, Sitting at the computer reading news on line has 2 negatives: secretary spread from sitting here too long and I can read the paper anywhere, exercise bike, bathtub LOL. Seriously, I carry my reading material around with me. Most of my on-line reading is research & sometimes I print it out so I can read it at lunch or while H is watching TV. (at least we're in the same room)
About that foot massage.........!!!!!!!!!! Can you get her to give you one & tell me if there's a similar association in the male brain? Can all you guys out there try it & see? All the SSW's on here really need to know LOL
Sorry about the mood swings you are seeing. I used to soak in a hot tub w/wine & a paperback suspense novel. Didn't have to lock the door, everybody knew what was up & left me alone for awhile. Took H some time to quit bugging me about what was wrong or was I mad at him. The kids clued him in. Mom's mental health readjustment.
Good luck tom'w. If you're a good boy at the Dr., maybe you'll get a lollipop!
