I am so grateful that I wake up each day now without dread haging over me. I love when my 3 youngest thinking they are sneaking up on me on weekend mornings and I pretend to sleep so thaey can "wake me up". I love how they all cuddle with me and talk with me during this time and how they all love my bed. I am grateful for all of you that continue to offer your support during the hard times and cheer for my victories. I don't have a clue how I would have gotten to this point without all of you.

Time for me to make an entry into the gratitude journal.

I'm thankful for such good classes this year. For the most part they are really good. I only have a little trouble with my 3rd period, they tend to get a little wound up. It's not that they are bad, it's just that they are very social! LOL

Yoyo, what a great idea for gratitude journal, sometimes we get caught up just with all the strife in our lives right now.
Over the weekend, my D15 knew I was upset after arguing with H on the phone, I was outside so D could not hear me, but she came out and said "Mom, I know you are sad but don't worry I have your back", and gave me a huge hug. We know teenagers can be an issue but I had the best kid in the world that day. I also am very gratiful to my 2 good friends that are supporting me without making judgement and praying for me daily.

Hope,
I'm so glad you have such a good support group. I too could not have survived without mine. I have a feisty 17 year old daughter that sounds a lot like your DD. Gotta love them!

Prayers have gotten me through also.

Hugs, Yoyo

I have a friend. He is an alcholic, but he is one of the greatest guys I know. A good father, husband, christian. He has 2 wonderful boys, a nice home, a wife.

Normally he doesn't drink. But a few weeks ago, he had a few while some family/friends were over. Then he had a few another night. Then another.

Within a few weeks, he had gotten drunk, fell asleep at work, is on probation now... had to take a pay cut, after finding out his wife is now pregnant with twins. Then found out he has a spot on his lung (smoker), his mother died, ... and doesn't remember this happening but his wifes daughter (age 16) said he came into her room and was talking dirty to her and began to masturbate. She has turned him in to her school and they notified the authorities. Now he has pneumonia, probably from all the stress.

So I am thankful that I have my health, and also do not have a destructive disease like alcholism... as so many wonderful people suffer from.

Now, if I could just get over being such a big dummy when it comes to this love thing...

LM,
Thanks for reminding us to count our blessings...

I guess it goes to show that our woes could be a lot worse. Somewhere there is always someone else dealing with lots worse than we are. So let's all count our blessings, no matter how bleak things looks sometimes.

I'm very thankful that I like my job "most" of the time.

I have a story to tell that is one of my favorites.

This story relates to the day that 911 happened. I am in no way discounting the tragedy that happened today, but this happened on that day and I have always remembered it.

We were watching television that day to keep up with what was going on. One of my students was talking about what a coward he thought President Bush was to keep hopping on a plane and flying all around so that no one knew where he was.

We had the following conversation
Me - The President has to do that because he is the leader of the free world.
Student - Our world isn't free.
Me- Yes it is. We live in a democratic society where we have choices and some people live in a communist country where everything is dicatated to them.
Student - We do not live in a free world
Me - Yes, we do. Why do you say that?
Student - Because nothing is free in our world, we have to pay for everything!

You gotta love the world explained through a young person's eyes!

Had a very difficult night with H, but need to have gratitude today that Hurricane Ike should not hit us directly. I do pray for others that will not be so blessed.

I'm grateful for food and family. This weekend I am having my family over (both sides) to celebrate my son's birthday (late). I'm lucky to be able to work at home/stay at home so that I can organize, cook, prepare, and buy food for this special occasion. Just being with family...that's all that matters to me.
