I have to wonder if the WAS who sticks with their decision ever gets to this point, honestly. They do such a good job of convincing themselves and others that they are justified in their actions, no matter how illogical. I have been amazed by the mental gymnastics the human mind is capable of.
That is the difference between us and them. We want to be sure we have done everything in our power to make our M work. They are just too selfish and cowardly to stick to their committment.

If we could actually measure this, I would be willing to bet 80%-90% reach a point of regret in one of many ways.....
1. I really loved my spouse. I should have given it a chance and gone to counseling to see if we could have made it work.
2. I may have been able to rekindle my love for my spouse. I should have given it a chance and gone to counseling to see if we could have made it work.
3. I do not think I ever could have rekindled my love for my spouse. However, we should have gone to counseling together to find closure.
4. I wish I did not allow OP to get involved in my M. If OP were not in the picture, things may have been different.
What I do know is they will never admit it to family or friends. Part of their "sickness" is they are totally puffed up with pride. They know everything. They have all of the answers. This type of person would never be humble enough to say they were wrong.
Take Care,
NMD
