Hi Everyone--

I haven't had much time to check in and now that I am officially an old-timer, I don't see as many familiar faces, so to speak, but nevertheless, many new and old friends around.

Summer has kicked into full swing and so have I. Just wanted to give you all an update and tell you, your life can get better!

Sine my XH walked out in 04 I went back to school, as you all know. I now am a professor at a local college and teach writing to freshmen. It has been the most awesome experience of my life. I have never loved a career more or been more fulfilled. It's like I finally found myself.

Kids are doing terrific. S13 will be going to high school next fall. He is a strapping 6 foot 1 inch handsome guy (I know, I can say it, I am his mom!) and an absolute sweatheart. He went from walking around with his head down after his dad left to playing all sorts of sports, teaching himself how to play the guitar and establishing a good R with his dad again. Life is good.

As for my D11, she is studying like there's no tomorrow saying she is going to Princeton! I can't believe it! I have no idea where she gets her drive from, but it's there..okay..maybe she is a smidge like me..lol..She has sleepovers with her girlfriends at her dad's now and they have so much fun. Life is good.

My guy is awesome. We have been together for three years now. He threw me a bash for my 40th in April, tent and all. 70 people were hear and he pulled it off as a surprise party. I have never in my whole life felt so incredibly blessed to be in my home with so many wonderful people who have supported and loved me during such a tough time. My b-day speech was a toughie, that's for sure, when I thanked all my guests. I barely could speak.

Careerwise--things have gone through the roof! I decided to put my research to work and start running seminars for women going through divorce and transtion. What started out as a little job venture has taken a major turn. You would not believe it! I am now affiliated with a law office --one that wants me to run round tables for their clients. Get this one--it's my XH's former law firm!! So funny!

I have been offered office space at firm that is a financial office and they are letting me run my consulting business there, too. They want me to work with some of their clients, as well.

I cannot believe what has happened!

So, that is my story. I went from a devasted stay at home mom with no career and a broken heart to living my dream. It's surreal to me to even type it!

Yes, I still have my moments, but they are far and few between. As for my ex, we get along better than we ever have. He is amazed at the person I have become, I think. I have finally gone after what I want and I am no longer thinkinga bout what I did wrong in the marriage, what happened, etc. We have established a relationship on coparenting and it works for now.

So, that is my story.

I am off to bed now. I will check in and say hi to my db buddies soon.

Love and hugs,

MTN

Creed, KarenMarie, and Ellie--

My friends--

Thanks so much for your well wishes. You all were an integral part on getting me here. The love and support I received from this website was my lifeline. So, thank you--

Doing these seminars is my way of giving back and it has been soul therapy for me. It breaks my heart hearing the voices of these women that are at the starting point of this terrible D process. If I can give them some guidelines on how to make this transtion easier, I will. As for my teaching career, this all meshes together. I motivate students to learn and I will motivate women to learn, as well...and become the individuals they were meant to be.

Off to go for my walk, then it's down to business on my laptop.

Have a great day!

Hi Cat,

What a nice post, thank you!

Ya know, I have had the good fortune of having a wonderful support sytem along the way. It was by far an awful thing to go through as you all know, but I grew up so much along the way. Many people have commented on how I have changed. I do like the new me better, too.

Take a deep breathe and know that in time you will look back on all this and realize that it was a time of transtion for you, too.

Thanks for the post!

MTN,
It's great to hear from you! You've been a busy little bee and I'm glad you have found our niche, i.e., offering seminars. You've been there and done that and have a lot of wonderful advice and experiences to share w/others.

I can't believe how much has changed for you and your children..in all of the positive ways. Congratulations to the kids on their goals and achievements. It's been a long hard road for all three of you. BTW, how's the cat doing? Still living w/you?

I'm extremely proud of you. You've achieved so much and are giving back to the community. Have a beautiful summer.
