Wow you guys! I was kind of thinking that myself. I wanted to take care of me more than I wanted to see H.
However, I have already accepted the invite. I was kind of encouraged to do so by my sister as well, who said it really couldn't hurt to find out what he wants. Forewarned is forearmed.
So, we meet at 1pm for lunch this Sat. I don't have to go again after this one though, right? :):):)

I think you should go, since you told him you would. Maybe you can cut it short for something fun like, "I'm sorry, I only have 1hr, because I have a skydiving class to go to."

We had an awkward, but civil lunch with a few laughs....and then the check comes and H informs me that he has started proceedings. I was shocked, but kept my cool. Then I was out of there and thanked him for lunch and told him to have a nice day.
God Bless You! I am so dreading the day if/when my H takes legal action. But at this point your H has said he is starting proceedings, I assume that means there will be time for him to think about his decision. You, too. I hope this turns out however you want it to. I am sure it really sucks right now though, and I feel for you. I had been following your post and was hoping for a good lunch for you.
It really is awful. H was trying to let me down easy, promised to pay maintenance and medical for two years, to help me out. I guess that's why it's so painful, because I know that he is dead serious about being gone for good. That's why it feels so bad. I almost wish he had been mean.
I am partway through a bottle of rum right now. Please don't judge me......
2 years? Man he's being cheap. Most states say spousal support is 1/3 to 1/2 of the time married. I've been married almost 7 years and I'm about to pay about 3 years.... You may want to talk to a lawyer....
