Has anyone over here been in an in-house separation and what are the things to expect / boundaries to set? I have an initial consult with an attorney next week and I am anticipating that W and I will need to agree to a legally binding set of conditions / boundaries if this has any chance of working...

Ugh... I hope this works out for you daybreak. My STBX and I were separated in the house for over 8 months and it was terrible. By the end I was so ready for him to move out so I could breathe. Be sure to have places that are just yours so you can retreat. Good luck to you. I hate to be a wet blanket so I hope it goes easier for you. Be good to yourself!
When I talked about this with my IC, he said that of the options available (working on M with help of separate MC, W moving out of the house and W moving downstairs to guest room), her preferred option (in-house sep) would be the toughest on our kids. Really stinks, IMO...

Well, I'll really be thinking of you. This is all so tough on the kids. My D should be final sooner than later, but STBX still wants to be able to come over Christmas morning and spend that time w/ the kids as a family. That also really stinks, IMO!

I am not sure of W's timetable for all of this but I suspect she will want to move on this as soon as possible after Thanksgiving. I am reasonably sure she would also want to have this "arrangement" last as long as possible since our kids are in a private school with reasonable tuition and the public schools in our zone are vastly underperforming...
