Hi,
I've seen postings before about good songs that apply to our unfortunate situations, or songs that make you feel better. I just saw a music video by a song called Stay by Sugarland. Has anyone heard or seen this?

My H was not in the room at the time. I'm so glad. It's quite a song and a wonderful moving performance. It was hard for me not to cry - especially at the end when she was crying.

At first I thought this was not a good song for DBers, until she got to the end...

You can hear it on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIyxkZod2cM

Warning - it is not a feel good song but it hit home.

The lyrics:

I've been sittin' here stairin' at the clock on the wall
And I've been layin' here prayin'
Prayin' she won't call
It's just another call from home and you'll get it and be gone and I'll be cryin'

And I'll be beggin' you baby
Beg you not to leave
But I'll be left here waitin'
My Heart on my sleeve
Oh for the next time we'll be here seems like a million years and I think I'm dyin'

What do I have to do to make you see
She can't love you like me

Why don't you stay
I'm down on my knees
I'm so tired of bein' lonely
Don't I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don't have to live this way
Baby, why don't you stay

You keep tellin' me baby
There will come a time
When you will leave her arms
And forever be in mine
But I don't think that's the truth
And I don't like bein' used and I'm tired of waitin'

It's too much pain to have to bare
To love a man you have to share

Why don't you stay
I'm down on my knees
I'm so tired of bein' lonely
Don't I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don't have to live this way
Baby, why don't you stay

I can't take it any longer but my will is gettin' stronger
And I think I know just what I have to do
I can't waste another minute
After all that I've put in it
I've given you my best
Why does she get the best of you

So next time you find you wanna leave her bed for mine

Why don't you stay
I'm up off my knees
I'm so tired of bein' lonely
You can't give me what I need
When she begs you not to go
There is one thing you should know
I don't have to live this way

Baby why don't you stay

If it gets to you DON'T WATCH THE VIDEO. I just watched it again and now I am crying.

But as sad as it is, it is inspiring at the end. I know we all keep those last words in mind ... we don't have to live like this. But we do out of pure determination and resolve and love. So, even though this song may be a downer, it's having a good effect on me.

And now another appropriate song for DBers, Sarah Evans acting "As If". Even though this song is not about infidelity, there is someone who has been through this, too.

I just watched it.. wow.. maybe I should send the link to the ow - anonymously, of course

I think I prefer Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats".. Better to sing about being vindictive than to act on it.. haha!

Yes, Carrie's is a good vindictive song! And yes, you have to listen to something upbeat after this one by Sugarland. I did -- I didn't want that song hanging over me all day.

Joie-

I just watched the Sugarland song. Thanks for putting it on. I had always turned off the song when it would come on the radio, so I'd never heard the end. Not as bad of a song as I thought.

Have a great weekend.
