I've been dbing for months and about five weeks ago - on advice of great solution-oriented therapist - I asked him to dinner and suggested he move back home. He just cried and said he's so messed up. Then I suggested that we go to counceling. He suggested I go back again and let him know how it goes. I did go back but therapist said - based on what happened, that I say no more but simply leave the therapy information around where he can find it and keep treating him with kindness and warmth. I've done all this and we've had NO meaninful conversation since the dinner. Just small talk, happy talk or an occasional anger burst from him if he gets frustrated about something like kids, etc. Should I actually bring up the therapy or just wait??

Being in limbo is not fun one bit. I think what you are guys are doing (peaceful talks, spending time together) is a good thing. If you don't think he'll feel cornered, you could approach him and let him know your therapy is going well, and you think he would benefit from it. Some would say just to keep on doing what you are doing, acting 'as if'.

I am sorry I am not much help. \:\)
