okay I just want to share how WONDERFUL God is!

you all kinda know a little about my accident the day of our trip a few weeks ago. Well, it ended up showing as my fault so she is filing a claim against my ins. yuck. So that means that my ins could go up next Jan when it renews. Luckily we have a low deductible, and they are sending us a check, but it was 1400 worth of damage.

WELL. I had to go to the store yest for supper and I totally forgot my wic coupons and they expired the same day. So that meant I'd have to drive back to the store again later. yuck. So finally at 8pm I took my s3 with me and we were practically at Reasors when I decided, hmmmmm, I think I will go to Walmart instead, I don't really want to it's further away and busier, but it is cheaper. So, we drive there and just take our time, Cannon is being good, I'm happy and I even help a crippled lady unload her cart, and I'm talking to her and the cashier about monavie and I'm just feeling pretty good. I go out to my truck and I look and think, oh, that can't be my truck, it has a big dent in the side of it. Then I look around and I don't see anything else and I think, there is NO way that's my truck, and sure enough I see the dent from the wreck in the back! oh my gosh. So crazy. I call H and say how is this happening again! and while we're talking a man comes up and I ask, oh did you see what happened and he says yes so I hang up with H. The guy said I'm the one who hit it. YIKES! he waited with his wife until I came out to let me know. He even says he is friends with a guy who just does body work and has had his auto shop for 25 years, and that he would take care of the other dent that the other wreck made and maybe even find a bumper for 100 or so. Then he talks about how he's a worship minister and arranges music and his grandmother just died that same day and all this stuff, and I'm so emotional I just start bawling right there. It was so crazy. I'm still in shock. Because now we will have that 1400 ck from insurance and we'll be able to use it toward bills and things instead of fixing the truck.

wow. I'm still in shock from it all. I love my God!!!!

Wow ST, sorry for the accidents but that is so great!! It's cool that he even stayed behind, nevermind being able to help you with the damage.

I know Nikki, isn't that sooo crazy? I was so grateful for him. And he kept saying, well, you should be mad I hit your car!

So how do you get your pups potty trained? just curious. I'm trying to take him out every time he drinks or eats, or if he starts sniffing around giving those signs, but I've still got to pick up poop at least once a day and pee too. I was SO done with potty training, this isn't fun. \:\( I know that it will be faster than my 3 year old though, he took forever!

oh, and all my baby fishies were dead when we got back. very sad. but maybe they'll spawn again. I hope.

Yippie ST, nice to have some extra cash! Fantastic how God worked it all out, maybe him being a worship minister and arranging music and your talent will produce even more great results from this accidental meeting \:\)

ST - aw sorry about the fishies. Hopefully you'll get some next time.

On the potty training - crate training is excellent for this. It worked really well for my dog. She's actually sort of 'insecure' if she's loose in the house while we're gone so I still confine her to one bedroom, and she's really good in there. Try not to think of it as a cage - more like a "den" where they have their own personal safe spot to go.

The dog trainer actually recommended against the newspapers or pads unless you have no other choice (i.e. the dog's going to be in the house way longer than it can reasonably 'hold it'). She said it's better to teach them from the beginning that going in the house is not ok AT ALL. Inside vs. outside is much easier to teach than "you can pee on this thing on the floor, but not that thing." I had been doing the newspaper thing and having a horrible time training her. I always had her confined in a small room with a bed/crate, but I was putting down newspapers too. As soon as I took the newspapers away (trainer's suggestion), she was house broken almost immediately.

Here's more info on it (probably overkill but I know you're a "researcher" like me...):

Oh you'll also need to totally get rid of the pee smell. Any time the pup smells that on the carpet he (she?) is going to think "Hey this is a good spot!" I use a product called Simple Solution. It's a bit pricey but hopefully you won't need it for very long, and it works much better than most other products I've tried.

Hope that helps some. Pup should be MUCH quicker than the kids!

Thanks for the hugs BND and your welcome, We did buy training pads, but I didn't have time to read the instructions and I just put it by the door, just in case, and he likes to bite it.

jdk, I know! I was thinking kinda the same thing, but not that we do music anything at all similar, he into choral quartet and I into alternative rock. Not exactly a great mix! haha, but still who knows!

I just took the truck in and they were really nice. The shop was even called W& J Auto Collision Repair! I keep telling people cause it still amazes me.

Nikki- thanks, the "couple" seems to really swim all over together so I think it might happen again.

On the crate, do you let them cry? He was going in all by himself, but now he doesn't like it. I did however put him in the bathroom with the light on door closed and crate door open, and eventually he went in and fell asleep. So maybe I'll do that?

We actually have our first dog class tomorrow, so that should be good. Thanks for all the info too, it doesn't hurt to have too much info, maybe other than a headache. ;\)

I've been using vinegar for the pee. It seems to work pretty good and that's what my mom always used. definitely cheaper! it's $1 or 2 for a gallon!
