An unexpected urge made me log on and check the boards tonight, the first time in more than a year! I didn't know who I would find. It's great to see you and read that you're starting a new business! Congratulations. And it's great that you had the courage to go on your trip without panicking about DH. How was it, and do tell, where did you go?
Nothing new to report here, S and I are still struggling but my amazing baby girl will be 2 this week! Look me up if you come to NYC again, OK?
Still no fire where we are, we must be about the only place in San Diego where the smoke isn't too bad. S15 went to volunteer at the Red Cross today. The area around my new office and my partner got evacuated. I was working in a different area, covering for another doctor who was supposed to have surgery today, but it got cancelled.
Ditto on the mind-boggling. I'm in SD too, in no danger, but FIL and his wife had to evacuate from Escondido.
Glad you and yours are okay!

Ellie - I was thinking of you as we watched the news all the way here in Singapore. Glad you are safe, and wish you could have our rain - it has been pouring for days

ps. Jennifer - good to hear from you too, and wow 2 yrs old
Ellie, sending power prayers for safety for you and the area.
A few years back there was a marsh fire in my neighborhood, it was only about 50 acres but very windy and jumped a couple of roads, making mine next. I had moved horses to paddocks so all I had to do was swing gates and let them run, I thought that would be better than being fenced in but horses are pretty dumb when it comes to fire. You get them out and they will back into it out of fear. I was fortunate, the fire never reached me, it had another 300 feet to go. Whew! whiping brow....
Live your life while you are still living. Riding the trail less traveled.

Good to hear that you are safe and don't have too much smoke. These fires are insane. Yesterday morning taking the kid to school we could see the smoke just above the mountains and by evening the entire valley sky had a layer of smoke. When I got up this morning I could smell it before I even opened a door.
My Fire Department Volunteer son has been chomping at the bit wanting to go help. Sadly a majority of these fires are being investigated for arson. WTF is wrong with people???
And to think that all we used to worry about was CA breaking off into the ocean due to an earthquake. *shrugs*
