Not much time to post or catch up. Joseph Michael arrived after 5 hours of induced labor on 4/28. To my surprise he was a whopping 8 pounds 14 ounces (previous largest child was 6 pounds 11ounces). The labor was good, uneventful and I was able to handle it without any pain meds. He is healthy and gorgeous and is nursing like a fiend (already back up to his birth weight).

A couple of remarkable items - my 15 year old son wanted to be there right away no matter how long it took. He stayed with us in the room (except for pelvics) for the entire labor until transition. He stepped into the hall and we delivered Joseph and right after I was cleaned up he came in to spend time with the baby and I. He was quiet and respectful the entire labor. When a contraction came on, he would just say, "It's ok Mom".

Dh was very good. He knows that I need to concentrate and center myself more than anything. He gave me encouragement but mostly let me breathe and handle myself. He recognized when transition came and made sure that the girls and my parents were on hand so they could see the baby when he came. DD2 jumped up and down with excitement.

As far as sex is concerned.... Hey, I'm already feeling a little interested (not really ready yet but getting there, by six weeks I will be ) AND I am within 10 pounds of my pre-preggo weight. I am thrilled. I can't really exercise yet but can walk around the neighborhood a little. Of course things are a little misshapen and I am looking forward to getting firmed up.

I'm glad you finally had the baby and all is well!

I remember I was pretty "ready" too, but obviously had to wait the 6 wks or whatever. Maybe it's the waiting that makes us want it more or something. I hated it though, until I quit nursing, "those" were so off limits to my H b/c they just didn't "feel right" and usually that's my trigger point. Needless to say, w/ each boy, I nursed less & less time \:\)

Good luck!

Are you saying that you wouldn't let him touch them, or that he didn't feel right touching them.

I do fondly recall the taste of breastmilk. One of the nice things that human cell cloning might bring us is bottled breastmilk from cloned mammary cells... I'd put that on my cereal if it ever hit the shelves. And of course feeding the real thing to babies without tethering the baby to Mom 24/7 or pumping would be a major advance.

But if we ever had another baby, I'd still enjoy getting it straight from the tap again.

Super Congratulations! My son was 8 lbs. 13 oz and now he is over 6'2". It's weird when people who once fit inside you are way bigger than you.

I never followed that 6 week rule. My nurse-midwife just said "Go for it whenever you feel healed.". Of course Mr. Oppositional was game at that juncture since he only ever wanted what he couldn't have.

I guess you won the contest/race too since I haven't gotten laid and NOP is still stoned. I wonder what sort of virtual prize we could give you?

LOL - Human milk is sweeter than cow's milk because humans have relatively more need for brain growth energy and the sugar feeds the brain and the protein in human milk is more digestible because baby cows need more big protein for their big muscles or something like that. My kids got nothing but breast milk and Cheerios until they could walk and they were both 30 lbs. at a year. The only reason I don't need a boob job is that I was blessed with great pectoral muscles -lol .

Well, don't need to worry about whether it was subconcious or not, but I didn't want him to touch them. Almost gave me the heeby jeebies for some reason, but we're past the children-having days. Had 3, ages 1, almost 3 and 7, so we're done.

CONGRATULATIONS!

There's something about boys they always seem to nurse like fiends. I guess they start that way and stay that way - LOL.

So cool your DS15 wanting to stay with you. Sounds like you had a really smooth labour - well done.

Congratulations Karen! So glad to hear that everything went well. I think it's cool that your son was there for the labor.

Have fun with your new little guy!
