Hey, Lou, I understand your uncertainty. I've met several friends from the boards (including CSW!) They've all been either straight women or men. I'd be very hesitant to meet other dykes (stubborn or otherwise). GGB is absolutely right about playing with fire. Bad idea.

I trust that you'll do the right thing for you. (Though, IMO, it would be good for you to spend a little time with a vegetarian. )

Lou,
I'm surprised you'd pick Key West of all places. Though, I love it there!!!! It was there that I had my first jet ski experience. So sure, meet me in Margaritaville on Tuesday night. It's lady's night there and we'll have some fun!!!

Never heard of "Orange Rock" but have had my share of Mogen David. Whooey!!!! I now drink only the white stuff except when in Spain.

As for QOE......my brother's actually bought me a matching shirt and hat that said "Queen of the F&*$ing Universe". I think they think I'm kinda bossy. Not true, BTW. Due to my mother and my D, it has since been changed to "Queen of Everything". Still have the T-shirt though!!!!

Ok, I'm confused... why is it "playing with fire" for a straight man and a gay woman to meet?

Uhhm. Isnt stubborn dyke, gay? I am assuming so because of her name. Soooo OG unless you are a lesbian, trapped in a mans body as I am, you should be ok.

I would tell BB you are being given a tour by one of your board friends. I dont believe in keeping secrets or needing to be sneaky with your spouse. I also dont see any danger here. Above board, completely honest is very satisfying.

I would have no problem meeting anyone from this board IRL. If it was one of the women, I would prefer her H there, or some friends, relatives. but wouldnt 'freak out' if it wasnt. I wouldnt do it if it had to be a secret.

I do have female friends, including married ones. I have no problem setting it straight if I feel uncomfortable with something. Better I am wrong and look like fool,(often am anyways, may as well be intentional) or we both end up embarassed around each other for awhile, then let tensions and quiet mutterings build.

Hi, Lou.

If I stop and see SD in NY, she shows me the effects of past glaciations, we swap some small talk, is that stepping out of bounds? I know BB would see it as something I should not do. This is one question that I have been thinking about. Any opinions?

I think you would have a great time with SD, and I believe that you are safe with her. I happen to know a young man that thinks she is of fine, upright and trustworthy stock.

Regardless, after due deliberation with your wife, if she still thinks that you shouldn't, then you should strongly consider her request.

All the best,

Do the right thing???? I have this Billy Graham TV clip in one side of my brain where he said he never in in a room with any woman alone and in another part on my brain I hear another message that says its strictly business and everything is on the up and up.

I have done it often. One of my Seventh Day Adventist neighbors with 3 boys my age had me over to dinner often. Vegie links, rice and lentel roasts, cheese sandwiches, all kinds of nuts. Everything was very tasty.

Are you really vegitarian? I was just joking on my other post! If you are, cool. Never tried the no eggs, no dairy Veg fare.

BTW, it would be nice to meet DB posters. My poll was more in the line of uncovering potential things I might miss more than asking permission from toe good posters.

I have a belief that if I think something is OK but 6 out 10 reasonable peopls say I am asking for trouble, I know my origional idea must have had flaws I am not seeing.

NOP. First let me say, So glad to see you back on the forum and happy to have you post on my thread.

You have a point that I had anticipated would be as you wrote. That would put a the stop to the SD meeting. BB's reaction would be a Ms. HairDog but on the lite side.

Like others have said, there there are people I would like to meet but would not do so, strictly for appearances sake. A divorced Jenny type person would be too much, not that I or a Jenny type would do anything. I have always ben very formal/proper around men and women and have had the belief that for anything more than public social skill to be enguaged in, the other female had to be marriage material and consider me marriage material too. Maybe that is too much information and does not apply. I suppose what counts is what is right. I saw what happens to dabblers. No for me it is in or out when it comes to anything more that business/friend type meetings.

I am the safety King too NOP. I would not let anything unsafe happen. That goes for wild ski trips, jumping out of airplanes, car rides, or excessive drinking, (anything more than 1 is over my limit). No piging out on food either. You see I am not the life of the party. I am the count on Lou guy, always have been like that.

I gathered the same thing by her writing style and what she was and was not willing to consider is some advice given to her by other posters. I see SD as a very steady, on course person, with P as her goal.

My post is getting a little off track. SD offered me a tour of the area and that is what is to be considered here.

Just my first impression after you joked about being a personal guide in the Caribian. You see I am a safety type guy and don't stray too far from the USA. (just playing it up Jill)

I have looked on the internet at some Costa Rica tour sites a year ago. Your trip sounds interesting. I don't think I will be going any time soon. (serious)

In the mean time, I guess I will have to sip my diet Coke at the VFW club. (just kidding around)

How did your retirement investments plan go? My steady, safe plan is doing OK. Think safe and steady when investing Jill. You sleep much better and don't lose as much when the market goes down. "A nickel a day is better than a dollar one day of the month."

Hey Lou,
I don't get the VFW reference......I've never gone on a date there, however, since my dad was a lifer in the AF, I have spent a lot of time in them. Was even a bartender in the local one for awhile. I also go to lunch often at the American Legion as all the men I work with are retired military or current ANG. They have the best soup ever!!!! Plus, the drinks are enough that even one and you don't want to go back to work!!!!

My best friend and I have taken a trip together every year for 18 years. This year it's Costa Rica. I'm in the process of picking out excursions and getting the best price. So far, we're going white water rafting, swinging through the jungle on vines (canopy tour), volcano tour and catamaran and snorkeling. We're going for 10 days over my birthday in Feb. Last year we went on a cruise for her birthday.

When are you going on your vacation? You could just travel across the country and visit various DBers for the day. I'll take you to the VFW.

Caught my eye with the topic title, at least...

When I saw the reference to magnetohydrodynamics, I was immediately reminded of The Hunt For Red October (one of my and my wife's favorite naval movies), in which the submarine of the title employed a magnetohydrodynamic drive, colloquially referred to as a "caterpillar." I gather it used magnetic fields in some fashion to propel seawater through two long tunnels built into the submarine, similar to jet engines only with no moving parts, so it was very quiet in operation, a decided plus for a ballistic-missile submarine. (Yes, I know, the novel described the caterpillar drive as something decidedly more low-tech.)

So, to relate back to the subject at hand, perhaps there are times, in the pursuit of love and sex, when one has to proceed slowly and quietly--"Engage caterpillar and secure main engines!" Of course, there are also times when it's necessary to uncrank the main engines and steam "all ahead full"...and the hallmark of a good and tactically-astute skipper is to know when each is appropriate.

- "A" (still cruising just off the coast)
