Through Parks and Rec. Check our your local parks and rec guide. Aren't you up northern AA county? I think thats what you said. Well, anyway, belly dancing is a great workout.

The Calvert county parks and rec offers two different belly dancing classes, two different instructors. One is not doing her class this winter. Its a very ancient form of Middle Eastern dance and let me say again, a VERY GOOD workout. I'm sure there are some up your way. I have also made a few friends though takin the classes.

Annette,

Cool. I'm toying with taking some kind of class like that or joining a gym. I need a little "me" time. It would be good for me and good for H.

Belly dancing lessons are great. I've taken them through the parks/recreation district here in Colorado. I need to take another one...the instructor I've had is great. She's an older lady (probably early to mid 60's) and doesn't take any crap off anyone. I've always gotten a great workout in her class and leave smiling due to her attitude.

My H is always the life of any event we go to unlike your H. He talks non-stop and is a lot of fun. When we get home, however, he isn't much fun in a sexual way. I feel like I'm stuck at the hand-holding stage at 47! I'm kind of bummed because he didn't even initiate ML on my birthday yesterday...what a perfect gift that would have been:(

Annette,

Yeah - my H is a "super extrovert" that you cannot ignore in any room. Is your H more easily engaged on certain subjects than others? Does he respond better if the subject is, say, football or computers? Sometimes people who have a hard time in the social arena do better if it is one of their pet subjects.

I have noticed thru my life that people who seem perpetually aggravated tend to loosen up greatly when presented with watching slapstick type humor.

You should get some "Three Stooges" type DVDs. I think your H would crack up a bit by himself in private. You could then slowly work your way into the scene with some popcorn. A good laugh may give him some energy mixed with a good mood and then who knows?
My grandfather was also a very stoic man but if you watched the "Flintstones" with him (one on one)he would be slapping his knee and laughing whenever Fred or Barney got smacked or something. Maybe it had something to do with him seeing someone he could associate with get beaten.

Good Luck with your training
