Hey,

I just got the big V last week and wanted to poll some folks who had it done (or whose spouses had it done).

1. When did that general blunt soreness go away?

2. When could you make bouncy movements without feeling it?

2. When did you get beck to sex (probably a bad question here)?

3. Any problems or pain since?

4. Everyone told me it would be a simple, relatively painless procedure but despite a sedative shot and local anesthetic, I felt like I was undergoing a 20 minute torture with a slew of profanity resonating through the halls of the urologist's office.

At any rate, I'm still glad I had it done. I just can't believe that my expectations were that far off prior to the procedure. I assumed it would be a piece of cake but now I'm finding out that I need to stay off my bike for a month etc. I guess I was unconsciously selective about what I was hearing.

In my case:

1. A couple of days.
2. Ten days to two weeks.
2(b). About ten years.
3. None.

I did have problems with pain in my scrotum when I ejaculated. It felt like a much milder version of what you feel when you get kicked. It was never very serious and gradually dissipated over about a six-month period.

Wildebube's experience is as I remember mine. I did experience some excrutiating pain when he did the "schnip" on one of the "boys," (after which he gave me some more anesthesia), and I do remember that side being the last side to have the pain go away.

But over all, no problems, other than a recurring feeling of "I did all of THAT for just 1x/ year?" thoughts every now and then.

Choc.

Hey Dave, heh heh, taking a "poll".

The blunt soreness went away after about 10 days.
Bouncy movements? Uhh, I was able to get back on my pogo stick in about three weeks.
I was able to have sex again after my sperm-check at 8 weeks, although, using a condom, I could have had sex again within a week. I didn't have any ejaculatory pain. My W actually initiated after the sperm test, saying, "let's see if this works okay."
As far as pain since then, only blue balls, general atrophy from non-use, and the ever-present breaking heart.

It was no big deal for me. The worst part was that I took my daughter to an amusement park about two weeks post-op and went into the ride where it spins you against the wall and then the floor drops out...gave myself quite a wedgie and it hurt!

I'll bet it did too

I gotta say, when my H got a vasectomy, it helped with my LD situation...I can't tell you how many times I felt like having sex but the Birth Control issues slowed me down.

Funny, I was hoping H would get a V for I thought it was he who was practicing BC in not having sex. The urologist wouldnt do it. He said, normally its the woman who should have it done.

Maybe my marriage difficulties are the friggin urologists fault!

oh PS I definately remember a time with a guy WAY back when..lets just say he was impressive and he had the big snip..so hang in there (no humor intended)

hey they castrate horses according to the phases of the moon, (a much more significant harvesting of the mountain oyster, if you will)

possibly the gravity does play a part on the healing.

Had mine done about 2 years ago.

1. Never really had any soreness.

2(a). Within 2 days was back to doing everyday things.

2(b). ummm, can't remember....that tell ya something? But, I suppose we could have had sex within a week or so. Of course they tell you to abstain until the sperm count is verified. Main thing is to not tear the stitches.

3. No problems whatsoever.

4. Mine was done in about 15 minutes with a local anesthetic and swallow of Lortab about an hour before the procedure. Never felt a thing. As a matter of fact, I never even had to use any pain killers at all. So, either my Urologist was just really really good, or your's wasn't. Doesn't sound like your Urologist was very good, but nothing to do about it now. It's not like you can say "next time I have a vasectomy, I'm going to......"

Since you say it was last week, I'm sure the stitches are probably healed, but just make sure you keep the area clean and infection free if the stitches are not healed yet. I've heard horror stories about that.

I guess I'm a worst-case type here:
1. 2 weeks, give or take
2. 4 weeks if I remember correctly.
3. Pain NEVER went away. I got 10% disability for it, when I retired from the USAF. Usually, on a 1 to 10 scale I register a 2. After sex it's a 7-8.
4. The doc never gave me enough local in the left side, so I finally said just get it done already. I think he put in almost 10 times the 'normal' amount of pain killer, I still felt everything. Was purple and swollen for weeks. Would NEVER consider a reversal. There was a guy there, going for V number 2 - got a V, reversed it, then decided to get another V. Crazy.
