This really made me smile.

Ok, I'll ask. Why?

That got my attention. My only knowledge of Edgar Cayce was that he was either (a) a charlatan fortuneteller (b) a nice guy who was misunderstood and propped up as a charlatan fortuneteller by people willing to believe anything.

I'll have to check this out.

Also

Anything by "Sailor" Bob Adamson, Adyashanti, John Wheeler (all of these people also have websites).

The Byron Katie stuff is Buddhist at the roots, although she doesn't call it that.

I don't think your W has to recognize your want as valid in order to get her to act as though she believes it is valid. You've lost sight of the original goal: a BEHAVIORAL change. Changing her mind is not a worthy goal-- that is hopeless unless she changes it on her own. This would be the equivalent of asking a spouse to go to church with you even if she is not a believer, which I think is a perfectly reasonable request.

Q: Is there anything I can do to help break my husband from drinking?
A: Give him this, and he'll never want to drink any more... it'll make him very sick if he does:
Put into capsule:

Oil of Eucalyptus................. 1 minim
Oil of Turp...................1/2 minim
Compound Tincture of Benzoin.....1/2 minim

Give him this.
Q: How may it be given?
A: In a capsule.
Q: Just one?
A: Just one. And then he'll vomit his boots up if he takes a drink! The smell of liquor will be abhorrent even! Of course, he can overcome it - but it'll make him sick for the first year anyway.

Isn't this weird? I found this on Cayce's website.

Made me smile becasue I found myself draw to buddhism and
contemplative practices out of the same sense of a "void".
What "I" discovered was that my idea of "void" and "empty"
were radically changed by the new ideas and practices.
In many contemplative practices there is an attempt to
cultivate a "void" or sense of "emptyness" so it is
somewhat ironic to fill a "void" with contemplation,
cultivation and examination of a "void". Mostly it made
me smile because I think you will discover some really
wonderfull things and ideas.

Here is link to some talks by Ajahn Brahmavamso, who I like alot.

NotATLdave sorry about the tread jack but your story remined me of a quote
for some reason.
There are two tragedies in life.
One is to lose your heart's desire.
The other is to gain it.

Dave,

Glad you are happy, and living "The Great Adventure." I've always said, a lot of this stuff seems to end up more "successful" if you define success not as "getting more sex and affection in your marriage," but rather as "learning to be a better person, and learning to cope better with the lack of sex and affection in your marriage."

I must admit, that doesn't much appeal to some of us, but I'm glad that it's working for you, as you seem very happy.

Choc.

Yes it is. I would view it with a high degree of skepticism. Especially coming from someone who believes that Atlantis is yet to be found as a massive submerged island in the mid-Atlantic and contained a highly developed (even by today's standards) civilization that practiced advanced evolution on sub-humanoids. And had powerful crystals that when one was over-used, it caused the cataclysm that submerged the island and destroyed the civilization. And the survivors set-up the civilizations of the Egyptians, built the pyramids, and hid a massive, as yet undiscovered vault of information underneath the Sphinx.

Yes, a high degree of skepticism.

LOL, yes, I see the irony now

Crom. I don't understand why/how so many people think that Atlantis was all or even some of what is in the myths.

Look at all the energy it would have taken to cause things to change so much, for things to have been carried out in their full extent as described.

People say "follow the money" today when we look at events that involve crime and etc. I say what amount of energy does it take for things to get done or change drastically.

i am not that versed scientifically and I don't think E=MC2 explains everything.

I also read somewhere, maybe Cayce, that the Atlanteans were somehow able to cross bread different animal species with humans, actually making some of the half man – half animals seen in ancient drawing. I for one believe this is true, especially based on some people I’ve seen in my life!
