Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot. (At some point)
I see the GI in a week or two, so I guess since I haven't had bloodwork done lately, it's time again. <sigh> I *might* have to be going for another colonoscopy and endoscopy so I know if that is done he will biopsy for celiac disease, which he suspects but blood work was negative...thank goodness. Autoimmune diseases are huge in my family. We all have one or two. Especially GI diseases.
Tonight I bought a ton of fruits and veggies, even spinach for spinach salads. I have rice cakes....everything. I am ready to do this!!!! Haha....I feel like SPongeBob...I'm ready, I'm ready.......LOL! Also got FF 1/2 + 1/2 and I have tons of splenda.
GL tomorrow. Oh...I also picked up some of those Lean Cuisine "cheats".
Maybe this weekend we can swap recipes. There are always some good ones the WW website. You don't have to be a paying member to access then either.

Hmm...I'm surprised to hear you say splenda is bad for you. I addresses this issue with Joslin Doabetes Center in Boston because I was worried about the side effects on artificial sweetners for my D. They said that splenda was the safest one on the market right now.
Well, I broke down and purchased the hoodia online. I am skeptical, but I will give it a shot. I am only using it to boost up my weight loss.....once the bottle is gone (60 day supply) that's it. I know I really have to rely on my lifestyle changes to achieve my desired weight and maintain it.
Ugh..I hear ya....autoimmune diseases suck. My daughter recently tested positive for thyroid antibodies. So, now it's a waiting game to see if she is going to have thyroid disease as well. I won't even list the AI diseases that run in my family. Let's just say we all pull from a lousy gene pool.

I used to use it but now I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. It isn't as simple as "being made from sugar", they actually turn it into a "clorocarbon". Essentially, they put clorine in it.

Hey Ladies...looks like it's just us for now on the health thread!
Lactose intolerance: just do soy. H and I both are have cut out almost all dairy for years, I still eat cheese. Soy milk is great--I think the recommendation for women is to get about 12 oz when you drink it. Like I said, add a handful of froxen berries (Sam's has a large bag for $6) and shake. Eating the berries makes it feel like a meal.
Splenda: causes gas if you eat lots...basically it's designed to give you taste, but pass through your system undigested, so no caloric absorbtion. So, good for weight loss, diabetics, etc. I use it in tea/coffee, about 1/2 packet. But, I don't use it to cook.
Yesterday: I was a LOSER. No exercise, no walk. I ate about 10 girl scout cookies (so had about 200% fat intake). Dinner was chicken chili (healthy, easy recipe that makes a LOT). Drank only 3 glasses of water. So, next week, my aim is to drink at least 4 each day. Then the next week I can jump to 5. What's the rule on water these days? Still 8 glasses? I was horrible with exercise this week as well. None today either. Ugh. Tomorrow for sure.
This week's discovery: rice cakes. Hey, they're good! I did peanut butter and jelly on day. Then I put FF black bean/refried beans, hummus, whatever. Yum! SE, might be nice for you if you have trouble eating much during the day, it's light.
There is a recipe I'm trying to find that was really good. First bite will seem kind of odd but it grows on you fst.
It is equal parts dijon mustard and plain yogurt with garlic salt and tons of dill, you put it on boneless skinless chicken breasts and bake in a tinfoil packet. It is low carb/low cal/low fat.
Yumm, Becca. I'm gonna try that this week. I might nuke it in a dish (I have a poultry setting on the microwave...I know, sounds gross, but it works).
Chicken Chili Recipe (makes a LOT)
1 onion-chopped 1 bell pepper-chopped 1 jalepeno-chopped (optional) 3-4 cloves garlic-chopped 3 14 oz cans diced tomatoes 1 14 oz can kidney beans-rinse and drain 1 14 oz can corn-rinse and drain 1 4oz can diced green chili (mild) 2 cans chicken breast (low fat) 4 tsp chili powder 1 tsp cumin
* Saute the first 4 until mostly cooked. Add the cans of tomato and add 2 cans of water. Let cook well. Add the beans, corn and green chili. rinse and drain the chicken and crumble into the chili. Add about 4 teaspoons of chili powder and 1 teaspoon of cumin. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add cayenne pepper if you like spicier.
Ok. I got rice cakes, sugar free jello, 3 huge bags of frozen fruit to throw in the blender with my soy milk for breakfast, some fish to make seperately when the kids are having something that i sholdn't eat, a couple of the Lean Cuisine meals.....what else? I know I got some other things too. I'm going to direct myself more towards the lower carb end of things and try to eat plenty of protein but limit my calories.

Becca- That all sounds pretty good. I don't like jello so I buy the sugar free pudding instead. I LOVE rice cakes. I ususally get the white cheese FF ones. H says they taste like cardboard...but hey....he's not eating them!
I found in my cabinet that I had bought a huge box of 4C green tea iced tea mix at Sam's. I forgot I had it. I am going to make some later.
Thanks for those links on the Splenda. Joslin still claims it is the safest out there. I have 2 huge bags of it, so I will still use it. My D usually just has full sugar drinks because she is on an insulin pump and it acts like an external pancreas for her. She can eat all the normal things that non-diabetics can. And her A1C is much better now so I can't complain.
Speaking of D.......sometimes you just HAVE to love your kids. (not that you normally wouldn't) D10 says to me yesterday "Mom, why are you on a diet, you aren't fat" Now, being a self-esteem conscious mom my answer was "D it's not so much about losing weight as it is about eating healthier due to my age and my medical conditions". She took that opportunity to get on me about smoking When did kids get so darn smart????
I blew my points for a month yesterday. H and I went to the restaurant that he is going to transfer to for GM when he gets back from school (one hour drive) but I had a chicken sandwich and it comes with fries...I made sure I ate the chicken so I didn't eat too many french fries. BUT..they make this out of the world chocolate mint mudslide dessert. One weakness for me is chocolate and mint together. So, I indulged. Back on track today though.
Hope everyone is doing good!
