Yes I do believe that they can tell when you have dropped the rope...I think everyone becomes more at ease...emotions are no longer in the way...when the LBS gets emotional then the WAS reacts to that by running for their dear life...you show no emotion and you do draw them in a bit more. I saw that yesterday for myself.
I had an idea: What if instead of a "rope" it was a "fuse". And what if instead of "dropping it", we "lit it and dropped it"? I think that would be more fun. At least it would be payback for them dropping "the bomb" on us back when... Just a thought.
So Wednesday night I called D13's cell around 7:00 to let her know I was about 30 minutes from home. She said that she was just finishing dinner and "they" were just leaving to drop her off at my house. About 3 minutes later she called back. "Mom wants to know if you can just come and get me since you're on your way up here and that way she doesn't have to leave the condo" (now mind you, she lives 3 blocks away). I said fine (but I thought "How lazy!!"). When I picked her up at the bottom of the exterior stairs, XW came down as well. I helped D13 with her stuff and then D13 looked back at XW and said, "Bye". I made no contact. She just stood there in her sweats as I drove away.
The dinner Thursday night was fine, just a lot of COUPLES!! My brother came over that night and hung out with the kid.
On a side note, the Dodgers have taken all 55,000 seats out of the stadium and are replacing them with new ones. The old ones have been there since the early '70's. Well, they are selling the old ones in sets of two (bolted together and with brackets bolted to the bottom so you can use them) so......I couldn't resist. I went in to LA yesterday and headed up to the stadium. One hour later and $250 lighter I now have two sunfaded, blue plastic, stadium seats from Aisle 22 (Row P, Seats 118 & 119), sitting up in my Loft. I figured that it is a piece of my youth and if I didn't do it, I'd probably regret it 20 years from now.
D13 and I are going Xmas shopping today. We also have to trim the tree. I had to run to KMart and get ornaments. I didn't realize until I opened the box that when XW took the tree down last year, she took probably 80% of the ornaments with her. I guess she needs all of them for her 2 1/2 foot tabletop tree! (sorry, couldn't resist). Tonight we are going to an Xmas party that some of my work peoples are having.
Now time for another installment of "DMF & D13 At the Movies"
Bewitched:Nicole Kidman sure is cute! That's about it. Really bad. I couldn't really follow the plot, if there was one. Rent at your own risk. Bright spot: Steve Carell (40-year-old Virgin, The Office) pretty funny as the old Paul Lynde character from the TV show. At the screening, Nicole probably watched this one through her fingers.
DMF: 0.5 Stars, D13: 1 Star.
That's it for now. I've got to go. I think George Bush is bugging my phone...
One thing I forgot about "Bewitched". There's a scene where Will Ferrell is in a bookstore and he's looking through the relationship books when he spots Nicole Kidman through the bookcase on the other side. As the camera pans the shelf of books he's looking at, they are all Divorce related and sure enough as big as life you see "The Divorce Remedy" by Michele Weiner-Davis.
I had to laugh!!! Unfortunately that was one of the few laughs in the movie... Oh well, off to the Xmas party, just thought I'd share that free publicity for MWD.
(Not to be confused with WMD...of which there weren't any after all.)

LOL! And a good thought it is.
Most of us really marry only once. First love endures, even unto our dying day. And we never really divorce.
Hi DMF! Thanks for the update and movie review. I had wondered about that movie. But I'll skip it. Lots of other good movies out there. I like the fuse bit. Maybe I can light it now while my H is holding it? Or is that too naughty?

to accept the things I cannot change,
To change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Another Monday morning. Not just any Monday morning though. It was four years ago today that we celebrated my Birthday by bicycling down the Haleakala volcano on Maui. It was also 1 year ago today that we sat (then) D12 down so (then) W could explain to her that we were splitting up.
Quite the dichotomy, no?
Anyway, I've been fighting through a cold for about the past week while still going to the gym etc. Last night I went over there just to sit in the 200 degree sauna. I figure I'm going to sweat this thing out. I got home and D13 was feeling kinda crappy... Well this morning she wakes up with a full blown cold complete with a 101 degree temperature. Luckiliy she's now out of school until 1/03. So a little Extra Strength Tylenol and lots of fluids and we'll go from there. She's on the couch covered in a blanket of Beagles watching Nickelodeon. I'm guessing that fever will be down in about an hour or so.
I have my MFT appointment this afternoon (Open checkbook, deduct $90). I'm going to try and work from home for a little bit this morning and go in around lunchtime depending on the kid's situation.
44 is the new 34. Right? RIGHT?!! Work with me people!!
I wanted to wish you a very "Happy Birthday"...
You have become my "help put things in perspective" friend.
And, my "you understand because you've been there" friend.
As well as my "help!!! it's one of those days" friend...
Thankfully, because I've got a friend like you to laugh with, everything feels like it is going to be okay. So, happy birthday to my "just don't know what I'd ever do without you" very good friend...
Hey, since I am the second one here to wish you a "happy birthday", does that mean you will buy me that $800 beagle puppy now? (just kidding, DMF)...
Hope you have a GREAT day!!! Thinking of you, -KIM
