Here's a suggestion for you both. Hoodia. You can get it at natural food stores. Google it so you can learn about the no side effects. Don't know if you're willing to take an appetite suppressant or not but this has worked for me. You want to take 1000mg a day. One in the AM and one at noon.

Bonkers -
did Hoodia work for you? I actually bought some, and tried it a few days, but didn't think it made a difference. Maybe I should take it again??

I can't take any stimulants, with my thyroid problems, so I made sure to get a brand that didn't have anything added.

LNL - Guess I'll have to pull out that scale to set my goal?
I think 150 by New Year's would be good. Of course, the one time I DID lose weight quickly was the bomb - maybe I should just act my H to have another affair?

Actually - I've always wondered why that is, so many people here lose weight after the bomb. Isn't increased stress supposed to make you GAIN weight? If we could bottle it, just think how rich we'd get! "The Bomb Diet"!!!!!

Well . . . the bomb instantly dropped 15 lbs in 20 days for me . . . but after that it's been Hoodia. Some days I take it and some days I don't. My anxiety is still so high that I really don't care about eating anything but do make sure that I eat the right nutrition from Slimfast or other food. Haven't had a steak since before the bomb.

Anyway . . . here's exactly what I take. Are you in the US? I get it at GNC and it's Hoodia Gordonii DEX-L10. (about $30 when on sale - first week of each month) The DEX implies to me that there is some sort of "energy" in it although I don't feel that way. I do though, not take it after 12:00 Noon as I have enough trouble sleeping as it is.

Hope this might work for you.

Had to chime in about "The Bomb Diet." Too funny!!! I lost 20 some pounds quickly after "the bomb." Then I just ran with it, joined Weight Watchers on-line and pushed it to 45 lbs. I'd like to lose another 15. But, since my R with H has been improving, the weight is trying to sneak back on!!! What a wonderful side effect, huh?!?!

Here's my theory on the bomb diet and stress induced weight change: continuous low level stress, like that you experience in an unhappy job or R often encourages you to turn to something that gives you immediate satisfaction...food. And makes you very tired, so you don't feel like exercising.

However, high level stress,crisis-type stress puts your body in immediate threat mode. Your life as you know it may be ending. You get no pleasure from anything, and food is the last thing on your mind.

What optimist said. It was my birthday three days after the bomb and we went out to eat lunch "as a family" (was trying to protect D7 in those days). I couldn't get more than three peices of pasta (penne) down my throat, yes, I counted.

Now that I am just kind of low level depressed (less dramas, just worry) I find I am comfort eating. And too lazy to shop for and prepare healthy salady things...

Actually, I did get out my exercise mat this morning, and have started my daily half hour stretching, toning, and back strengthening routine once more.

I will also have to try that Act As If You Are Happy And Fine routine, the one that turns it into a reality, by some accounts.

So Ellie, you weigh 160 lbs right now?

I suspect, or maybe 165
Guess I'll have to sneak that scale out so I'll know where I started, huh?

Weight training upper body for me today, and maybe 30 minutes on the treadmill.

Yes Ellie, you will have to pin yourself down by knowing your present weight, so you can set concrete goals!

God, it feels good giving you some advice for a change!

My "bomb" diet was to exercise to keep from falling into a deep depression - and I lost quite a bit! I am not sure if I would have without that push.

When we got back together and were planning the wedding, I gained a little back. But I now keep a journal with what I eat, and I don't eat everything my husband does. If we are having any main dish, he eats more of the main dish, while I usually make a big pan of veggies to go with a small amount of the main dish. I love cooking up some green and yellow squash, along with a lot of mushrooms and onions in a pan, and it's very few calories!
