Jo we or at least I use the phrase "Andy Pandy" to comment when someone does not make their mind and commit one way or the other. It is either they can't decide or they don't want to offend anyone. A simmilar phrase is "Wishy Washy."
I am still amazed there is no 'Andy Pandy' in the States!
Andy Pandy was around when my mother was little (she was 6 when it was first aired) and it was like the staple diet of mine and Andy's childhoods.
Then it went off air for a decade or so, and they revamped it about 3 or 4 years ago and now my kids watch it too! There are loads of books with colour photos in from the TV series, of which dd4 has two that we've had for years, and I bought dd3 some new ones last year to have at her dad's house.
When the series came back on TV, all my older dd's started calling H 'Andy Pandy' so I did too and of course our dd3 is Lucia so she got called Looby Lu (we totally forgot about the TV series when we had her, we just called her Lucia because it's Latin for 'the light') - I would have called her Sophia (which was our 2nd choice of name) if I had remembered 'Andy Pandy' - LOL!

Remember, there's not much British in the States because we threw you buggers out unlike the Aussies, Canucks, and just about the reat of the Pommie empire!
But you have Teletubbies, right? (aired 1996) - all my kids grew up with Teletubbies and dd4 still loves them. Drives me nuts after 9 years of Teletubbies.
What about 'Thomas the Tank Engine'? 'Maisy Mouse?' 'Postman Pat'?
Another one of my dd's favourite's is 'Tractor Tom'.
I just kind of assumed you aired them all since you are the Capital of film making - you air a film, and we in the UK don't get to see it till 6 months later, normally.
Oh, yeah - we have Teletubbies. First time I saw the show, I thought it was made by folks high on hallucinogens.
S5 loved Thomas the Tank Engine, and still plays with his set with his buddies that visit the house. Very happy memories for me tied to that earlier family time.
Lots of 'Thomas the Tank Engine' books. Even a fullsized one that runs on regular guage / width rails for steam train rides somewhere around Chicago or a neighboring state. I saw a TV program how the amusment company converted a steam locomotive to look like 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. It's very popular.
